So far so good, my characters mostly stayed on track. Although one did show a bit of compassion...I thought she was just a mean angry character.
Doing good for day one. Hopefully I can keep the momentum as the work week progresses!

Although I was up till nearly 2 AM...I thought it was just after midnight and I looked up at the clock.
Too bad I have to be up in 6 hours :-P

This is my first year participating in NaNoWriMo, and I'm glad to see a Lubbock group :) Day one went well for me, though since I work nights, my "days" are a little different than most. So far I'm on track with the word count, and the story seems to be developing nicely.

My first day went very well! In my normal writing habits I don't keep track of any sort of word count or how far I've written in a day, so it was cool to see that spilling nearly 4k words onto the paper was not impossible...or even painful!

Day one went surprisingly well for me. I got to 1200 words and had to run some errands. I was afraid that might have been it for the day but I got a second wind late in the evening and hit 1795 just after midnight.
What I learned:
* I don't know nearly as many Spanish slang words as I thought I did.
* Some of my characters are cussers.
* My antagonist is a little bit of a racist.

This being my first NaNo, I was surprised to find that it in me to hit 2.7k on the first day. I'm sure it'll get worse, but for now I am proud. I found out that there's a kid in my MC's class that sleeps while sitting up. I also found that my MC is much more of a daydreamer than I thought. Also, he has an unrealistically good relationship with his sister. I'm going to have to ruin that to boost my word count in the future. I just feel it.
Congrats for making it through day 1! Now shouldn't you be writing?

My MC already got himself in trouble by walking into a house with demons inside......you think'd he'd know better by now!

Things went very strange for me. For starters, I woke up yesterday totally forgetting that it was day 1. I didn't remember until the clock was coming up on 9PM.
I decided to do things a bit differently this year as well. Last year, I took an easy path choosing a story that I had almost completely written in my head. I didn't have anything on paper, but I had developed the story over a couple of years in my head and always intended to write it. I knew all the characters intimately and knew most of the plots before I even typed the first word.
In the end, I was strangely disappointed in the entire thing. I wanted to use NaNo last year to get back into the groove of writing, but in the end, it felt almost like I was regurgitating a story someone had told to me.
I wanted to challenge myself this year, so I came up with several story ideas, wrote a brief description of the story down along with the first sentence of each on different sheets of paper. I did this over the course of about a month, so in the end, I had about 80 story ideas to choose from. Last night, I put all of the story ideas into a hat and picked one at random.
Just my luck. I picked the one I was least excited about and felt the most uncertainty about.
Well, I wanted a challenge. So far, it has been that, but the story is finally starting to take on some life. It has been very clunky up to this point, but I think things will start to smooth over from here on out.

Hmmm....I like the idea of choosing a random idea. My novel is really part two of my novel from last year. I"m hoping to put them both together and hopefully get it published :-)

This being my first time doing NaNoWriMo, I was very nervous. I always spend months pre-planning and getting organized, but this time I just dove right in (my overly-logical OCD muse is screaming in despair). It also doesn't help that the novel I've been working on for two years is being put aside for this (and it has been the sole focus of my muse, which made her even grumpier). I think it went well, for not having any clue what to write.
Not a large word count, but the action moved fast for being the first chapter. The larger wordcounts will come later (I hope). Very proud. It's out of the ordinary for me, but I like it. If only I could figure out why one of my characters has an obsession with fruity candy, then all will be well.

Glad to have ya on board Raico! Trust me, I have an outline, but my characters are quickly taking it and throwing it out the window! Last year, I didn't write anything for the first five days but I was still able to catch up and get 50,000 with a couple of days to spare!

That's good to hear. Starting to sweat it out, but in a single car ride to class I managed to outline more characters. As long as I have them, I should be good. The non-sense comes later! ^_^

Yes, on my way to and from work, I sit and think about where the story should go next. Already had a couple of unexpected turns so my outline is quickly becoming nothing but something for my trash can :-P
