Day 1, word Count!

Me? 3451 words!

I was at 2427 yesterday! And surprisingly was of a fairly high quality (for me). It's today I'm writing things and going 'I could have written better when I was 5 years old'.

A little nervous about posting an excerpt, but if I can't do it on the second day I won't ever be able to, so here goes!

'A silver cat slunk up beside Julia and she placed her hand on its head in acknowledgement. They sat like this for a while, enjoying the bright purple sky above and the velvety grass below. Julia chucked the cat under the chin.

“Nice day for purple, isn’t it?” she said conversationally, “There hasn’t been purple in a while.” She turned and looked at the feline which was staring at her. It opened its mouth and mewed, then walked round the back of the gravestone. Julia was still staring curiously at the place it had disappeared when she realised she was back at Raven. She had no recollection of how she got back there, but sometimes time worked like that. Perhaps she flew.'

8144 yesterday!!! (probably the most words I've ever written in a 24 hour period. I always write loads at the start, though)

I'm up to 9877 today which is 1733 words in the last 12 hours... it's definitely starting to get harder though.

"It must be a Thursday. I never could get the hang of Thursdays..."

Well done everyone

Got 5013 yesterday, first 2000 words took about 2 hours. the rest took pretty much the entire day. But I was determined, just so I had a buffer incase I get days when I have nothing, which I'm sure will come soon enough. Think I wrote more yesterday then I have in a couple of months, definately fighting the inner editor. Hopefully I can ignore it for long enough.
Just about to start for today got till 9 so hopefully get a good chunk done

Excerpt

Jailee woke up with a start. Her skin ached for relief as the air washed over it stabbing at the nerve endings with brutal skill. She was still naked, her skin raw and her hair wet. She remembered the torturous scrubbing, how she had endured it for only minutes before passing out, overwhelmed by it all. She was surprised she had any skin left. She wasn't even sure how long she had been unconscious. Probably not long, as her hair was still plastered to her head. She was lying on a cold hard floor. Slowly her vision became used to the gloom, but even then all she could see was darkness. She seemed to be in an empty room. A huge empty room. The only light from the moon outside. Slowly she pulled herself to her feet, she should have been freezing but she wasn't, the heat radiating off her scoured skin was giving her painful warmth. Jailee stood staring out the window, staring at the moon. Normally she loved the moon, how it lit up her little bedroom, made her feel safe in the night. Now it just looked sinister, cold. It certainly did not make her feel safe or offer her comfort as she stood naked in this empty room.

Couldn't write at all yesterday! So been trying to catch up today. I've written 3175 words, so almost made it. I should be back on track tomorrow now.

5102 words. Phew, must have been a weekend! Here's an excerpt:

Silence fell, and a breeze ambled slowly around the platform, A quiet grate of armour sneaking out as Krath turned to look at her. She caught his gaze for a moment, breaking it as soon as, and turning and kneeling down, resting her head on the sloped edge of the block , facing away from Krath as he took up his position on the opposite side. Careful to mark up his shot by leaning over and touching the tip to the ground on the other side of the block, he then raised the sword, until it stood proud, angled above and slightly behind his head.

He blinked and paused a moment, motionless, pulling in controlled, organised breaths, drawing into an intense moment of concentration, only letting it out in the slightest of whispers.

“Deyu.”

The sword fell, accurate and fast, a brief glow gracing the edge, a hint of flame at the tip, slicing through the neck with barely a hesitation, before being brought to a halt with the sharpest of notes as it hit the block. As a professional Krath held the position for a moment, head bowed, eyes shut, only hearing the short roll and semi-soft thud of the head as it exited the block, and the all too slow slide of the body following it. There was the respectful silence of death, the pause long enough for Krath to compose himself before straightening up, careful to avoid looking at the result, and turning to address the crowds once more.

“It is done. Go.”

7,400 and hoping to get a few more words done tonight ^^

By the end of last night I was on just over 5k. I've now been back from work a couple of hours and I'm just over 7 :)

Oh man, I forgot it was November until my housemate reminded me last night and then I was lazy, so I only got to 1,700 or so. Sad times! :(

:D thanks! I've done the 'Magna Carta' lists from Chris Baty's book, and on my Magna Carta I is 'MYSTERY!' in a big big font. I'm having to refer to those lists so much so I don't end up doing a Stephenie Meyer and making all my characters miserable :)
