I've lost control of my novel already. The plan was for the ship's captain to be pregnant by aliens but still be in love with the space pirate who was meant to be the hero, and be dealing with an unrequited crush by the ship's computer, but now it's turned out that the computer brain (Chaucer, who is actually a human whose brain was plugged in to run the emotional dampener system that the ship relies on to keep everyone emotionally stable during battles) is actually the hero and she's going to end up with him (in a humanoid android body) rather than with the sleazy space pirate.
Anyone else need to send their plot to obedience school??

This must be a common problem.
My character was supposed to be a strapping young space farer straight off the bat, until these jerks turned up, and started overthrowing the government. Now has to take the long (underground, FFF) way to even get to the shuttles that go the bloody spaceport.
I swear I'd have better luck giving him a pair of rocket boots to get of the planet with.

I don't have the same problem as you guys because I don't write with a plot. My story staarted out as a friend requesting that there be a story based around a character that had a mention in another story of mine. I find it easier to just write and write as the idea's come, for example I had to do an English test yesterday morning and when i had finished there was time left over so sitting in a room full of people still doing the test I got an idea and used my left over paper to write three pages of my story.

Well, i didn't really have a plot in mind in the first place, only that it was going to be a world with magic, but that fact was going to be well hidden until the reader discovers it's existance at least half way through the story....yet here I am, writing about a talking wolf a thousand words in...
Stupid brain!

Wow Manic Spider. That just sounds amazing. I beg of you, make it available somehow after NaNo.
