Hey locals, I live in Wausau! I was at Biggby Coffee the other day working on online homework, and I saw a lady typing in Word and couldn't help but wonder if she was Nano-ing.
The Ink Ladies are? were? a group of Christian woman writers who used to meet once a month September through May to write, share our writing and talk. There were fewer and fewer people coming to the meetings, so the November and December meetings got cancelled for this year. Not having my writing support group available is what prompted me to try this NaNoWriMo.
I'm way behind in my word count, but I do have some characters, a bit of a plot, and someone just lost consciousness. His fellow snowmobiler intended him to die. I'm not sure he will die. I'm having trouble killing someone off in what is supposed to be a murder mystery.
My writing experience is mostly short pieces for work newsletters. I also have taught Freshman Composition and Technical Writing for a technical college near the Twin Cities. I currently teach GED and adult basic ed (including writing) for NTC.
What is your writing background? What is your story about?
The Ink Ladies sounded like an interesting group of woman. It is a shame that they have fell apart.
You are not alone in the lack of word count. I had started off full of steam, which has now shifted to hot air. That's what brought me back into the forums again. Looking for a spark of rejuvenation and the sense of not being alone in my quest. That’s the concept that drew me to NaNo.
I am sorry to hear that you are having a difficult time killing someone off. I am having the exact opposite problem. Who do I keep alive, and under what terms? My biggest problem is trying to understand the human mind in extreme circumstances. My tale can be summed up as man vs. nature vs. man. I have a possibility of incorporating up to 54 personalities; and 54 extremely different views of the same life threatening situation. It’s quite a challenge but there are aspects that are really pulling together quite nicely.
As for my writing experience. I currently am a writing contributor to several online websites. I have written several short stories. And I have several published works of poetry. Additionally, I have enough of a story to fill the pages of a multiple book series. But, before I dive into writing my story. I wanted to shoot for something smaller. That’s why I am referring this first novel, as a first kiss. Either I will know it’s love, or I will know otherwise.
