The Riverside County, CA region has challenged us to a word count war. Shall we accept? I don't know if there is anything involved other than winning bragging rights, but it would be cool to kick some West Coast booty!
BTW, sorry to miss out the first day of writing. How is everyone doing? I managed to get 1500 words on the car trip with my kids screaming in the back. Wanted to write more, but just couldn't concentrate. Hope you guys are still excited and moving forward.

my opinion?
Bring it.
It's another fun challenge to take part in, and may be one more incentive to keep writing.

My puny word count might not be able to help much, but why not accept the challenge.

I accepted and I'll post their word count and ours each Friday morning to encourage us to make the best of the weekends. :)

Currently our region has a word count of 554,911,
and Riverside County has a word count of 413130.
We are ahead, but they are keeping it close and it is only day 4! This could be a really good match up.

How cool. I had just been noticing how well our region was doing on word counts, so we may as well use a word count war are more motivation. I will definitely feel motivated to write the region team.

at the moment, I'm writing faster than I have in any previous year. I did another 3000 or so tonight. Here's hoping this will mean something in the word war.

I gotta admit, you guys are GOOD. This is fun though. We're having ANOTHER write-in today but it seems like more talking than writing occurring...
We'll try harder. And maybe you'll all watch football all weekend.

I've been so busy this week with life AND Nano that I'm just catching up with the Charlotte threads.
I'm telling you, we can whoop some West Coast *** this weekend. Let's pour it on. Will try to put together a virtual write-in for tomorrow, looking for best chat room software. Please Nano mail me tonight if you know the best way to do this. I'm happy to start a new thread to announce it. Can we keep a room open somewhere all day long? that would be awesome.

There is some kind of regional word count calculator out on the "fun stuff" link. I didn't read about how it works, but it might be something we could use.....

Oh, shoot. I wrote the most perfect post last night and I guess I didn't post it. Here's a poor imitation, cut down to the basics:
1-in support of the Word War and just for the heck of it, I'm daring myself to reach 50K by Monday morning. Right now I'm sick in bed. Still gonna do it, unless the doctor takes my laptop away. A modest caveat. I have 40+K right now, so this will be challenging but not impossible.
2-say Happy Birthday to my mother, friend and supporter throughout the month.
3-If I fail in my goal I will donate $100 to a charity I abhor. I'm not going to say what it is, because if you like them you might come to my house and beat me up or hack my computer and sabotage my novel. But I promise I'll do it.
4-I have several friends sponsoring me. If I manage this, then I will double what they give, a minimum of $100.
5-Let's have at 'em. If I'm sick in bed and can jump off into the abyss, so can you. What's your abyss? Post it here and jump!
I want to beat California!

Got the flu or a bad cold. Doctor's orders to stay off the computer. 3000+ words for 3 days may be delayed. I hope that's not reneging. I will do this, but have complicated health issues--the virus has me flat and seizing. I will update as soon as I recoop enough to write.

Done! Spent Friday in bed, wrote Saturday and Sunday. Have 53,882 at the moment, and Hurray! don't have to pay that vile institution! Now I can breathe again. And don't tell my doctor what I did this weekend, OK?
Anyone have an update on the two regions? How are we doing? I know I'm not the only one who's done. And I'll keep writing this week, but not as intensely as the last two days.
Happy writing!

We have more people so we should be winning, but we slowed a bit last week. We have closed the gap a little, but we need to get everyone turning in those word counts. Keep up the good work and we will catch them again, I know it!
Way to go nvl917!
