Who survived day one without going crazy?
I spent the day staring at the blank notepad, both physical and digital. So in all technical senses of the word, the survived, but I don't have a word count, yet.
How is everyone else faring?

(and sorry for not introducing myself sooner. I'm Cassondra, I'm from Thorald, but I'm originally from Chippawa. I've been locked out of my account until this morning.)

Two days in and I'm doing pretty well. I've been training myself to get up and 6 so I can get a few hours of writing in during the morning hours before work, and that worked pretty well for me today. I'm above where I should be for the word count.

I'm working from an outline that I made last month that will only get me about 1/2 way through the book. Once the outline runs out I'm not sure what's going to happen with my pace. We'll see in mid month. :)

hey Cassondra, ya the sites bin a bit finicky this last 24. And ya, doncha HATE those nasty little blank pages?
When that happens to me, I pound it away quick this way:
I just start off with a monologue ABOUT the blank page...
ie. This stupid blank page is driving me crazy and I cant wait for it to fill up with stuff because I have this great big story just busting to get out. Its about the girl ( her name is Sonjia) and she is looking for a reason to skip school... not because she is a slacker, but because she is avoiding her best friend. Sonjia doesnt want to be the one to tell her friend...

And then off I go!
Maybe some others can share their blank page blues tricks too ?

I had a glitch myself on day one but it all turned out okay in the long run. Despite an argument with my auto ( it won), in honour of the first write in session I put out a respectable count from 7-830.
Then, so I could be at the Kick-off party bonfire -in spirit if not presence- I fired up my own pit and brought out the prepacked supplies from the car. Sat bundled up in a rocking chair, laptop on a board & feet up on a log and began pounding out some more - with roasted marshmallow breaks :0)

Hubby came home a half hour later to find me thus, and taking pity at my plight of singular determination, he pulled out his classical guitar and serenaded my clack clackety clacks. Day's WC 2158.. yay me!

Weird how a turn of fate actually increased my output... I wonder now if the few hours driving time on Sundays wouldn't be better spent staying home at the pc....

NAH!! By the time next week rolls around I will probably be dying for contact with other writerly folks!

Write on everyone! We CAN do this!

I have a wicked head cold and forced myself to spit out something. :) Surprisingly made it just over 1000 words for day 1. Since I don't really get a chance to write until the end of the day (after the child is in bed) it's hard to estimate how it will all work out.

But keep going people! :) Some days you'll write more than others but the key is to just WRITE!

Hi. My name is Tara from St Catharines. I haven't written much yet but that's changing tomorrow. I knew the beginning of the month would be a little bit crazy because of work. I work in retail and Halloween is just like Christmas. So I spent my day off yesterday very zombie like and tried to at least do my bio and all that I came up with was that I liked Stephen King. So I gave that up I fixed my bio today though. Anyways, tomorrow is going to be some serious writing after work. Congrats to all who have made it this far. I always find that hardest part is the beginning but once you get through that part there is no stopping me.

I've found just diving right in and writing something, anything, is better than sitting and staring at a blank screen. Describe a random feature of the character or how she got her favourite pair of shoes or whatever keeps you typing.

My schedual was very random this weekend (stupid inventory **shakes fist**), so my sleeping scheduale is all screwed up, but I've had lots of quiet time alone to write, so I'm trying to get ahead. Tomorrow my regular life starts again.

I should break 10,000 tonight!

Oh snap, I've been working on my outline all this time and it's not until recently that I actually started writing anything. I could use anything as an excuse, but I won't. I'll just be happy if I can get halfway though this thing in a month, though I've been told if I don't have it completely done my ass will be massively kicked (and seeing as three people including the ML now know me personally, and one has access to my personal info, it will most likely be done...if I haven't fled the country).
