Here is the current status:

At the time I'm posting this, the word count widgets are still not working, but I have high hopes that they will be soon, and then we should see the our progress bars above.
However, on day 1 of our friendly competition, I am happy to report that our region stats show the following:
Palm Beaches: 117,004 words (3,342 per Wrimo with wordcount)
Ft. Lauderdale: 48,812 words (1,952 per Wrimo with wordcount)
So we're off to a great start - keep up the good work!
Chris

I demand that you post the widgets. I don't believe your numbers. You've inflated them somehow. I simply KNOW it.

Ha - I remember your trash talking from '08, Debby! I guess since you guys won last year, it was justified. ;)
But hey, if you didn't like yesterday's numbers, you should see today's! Just check the "Region Info" tab for both of our regions - the stats are right there in black and white.
And for the record, I did post the code for the widget in the opening post of this thread, but for some reason they haven't enabled them yet, so nothing shows up. I hope the graph will magically appear soon!

Good for them. I don't think anyone in Palm Beach wants Broward to fail in any way. It's just a friendly competition, guys. Right? (I may have missed something, this is my first year.) Personally, I want everyone to succeed. So WRITE AWAY peoples, write on! :P

I like that we have more people AND more wordcount - both average and total. ^^

Which is not to say we should remain complacent! Write write write!

So... we have 73 people? That means every 73 words i write is 1 for the average... sounds like yet another goal to aim for! How high can you raise the average?

Hey everyone,
Just want to say how impressed I am with the Palm Beach County crowd this year! I've been doing this for a number of years now, and this is as active as I've ever seen the forum. Word counts are looking fantastic - seems like I'm not the only one shooting for 100K! And you folks that are getting together and organizing write-ins, even without an ML for our region - great job!
Hope everyone's enjoying the month so far - keep up the great work and remember, we can sleep in December. ;)
Chris
PS. One more note: Looks like donations are one area where Broward still has us beat, so in case you've got some extra cash lying around (yeah, right), consider thanking the NaNoWriMo folks for inspiring us to write!

Nice job everyone - at the halfway point, we've broken a million words! But the Broward region is close behind - keep meeting those word count goals!

Okay, I hope everyone's story is going well and I hope everyone's still cranking out those words... because the Broward region is closing in! We're still ahead, but only by 35K words (we were as much as 100K words ahead earlier in the month). And they've passed us in the per person average for the first time.
So if you haven't met your goal for today, don't stop yet - keep writing!
