You may have heard rumors that even ninjas need sleep. Coffee in hand, your clan leaders laugh in the face of this rumor! The true literary ninja maintains constant vigilance and writes well into the wee hours of the morning. It is with this in mind that we invite you to the 2nd Annual Edmowrimo Overnight Write-in!
We'll be doing things a little differently this year and holding the event at an all-night restaurant – Humpty's Family Restaurant (17006-90 Avenue) in the west end. They have graciously offered us the entirety of their upper section for our overnight trek toward noveling glory! The event will run from 8pm (Friday) November 6th to 8am (Saturday) November 7th – 12 hours of frenzied word warring and relentless plot tackling!
Unfortunately, due to the location of the event, it is fairly unlikely that we will be able to dual-host the event in the IRC chat room as well. But, on the other hand, this location makes it far more convenient for Wrimos to drop in and out as they please as the doors will be open all night!
Okay, now onto the less exciting (but equally important) part: the rules! Humpty's Family Restaurant is devoting an entire section to our somewhat unusual needs and we want to thank them by being respectful, appreciative customers. Any inappropriate behavior will not be tolerated and, unlike the previous year for this event, your MLs will NOT have the last word on what crosses the line. We just ask you all to conduct yourselves with the same composure you would in any other public setting. People can get pretty goofy when they're tired and hopped up on sugar, so try to be worthy of the trust we're putting in you guys to hold this event! Any ninja who tarnishes the Edmowrimo Literary Ninja image will bring shame down upon their clan and will be banished from future clan gatherings.
While it is not a strict requirement, we request that everyone who can attend order at least a little something from the restaurant. They are letting us occupy a large portion of their space at no cost, so the least we can do is get a pop or a coffee or whatever floats your drinking straw. If you are in a position to offer a drink purchase for someone who couldn't otherwise afford it, we greatly appreciate your generosity. This also means that outside food and drink will not be permitted.
A few other things to note: Unlike last year, there will not be anywhere for novelists to nap. The best thing about this location is that you can come and go as you please – which includes going home for a few hours of sleep and coming back refreshed!
There is an ETS bus depot across the street from the restaurant, at West Edmonton Mall. Those taking public transportation to and/or from this event should be aware of when the buses run and have alternate arrangements planned just in case they need to leave earlier or later for whatever reason.
Please let us know if you have any questions with regard to this event, its location, or the above-written rules and requests. We're very excited to be doing another overnight write-in this year, and hope many of you will drop in or stay all night!

I hate it when my drinking straw floats, because I have to reposition it all the time.
I will be there, probably for the long haul since I'll already be pumped full of espresso from my work shift earlier that day. I will be able to afford a little something, and should I purchase a food item, I will probably have to share. Just 'cause.
----------Hopelessly adrift in the eyes of the ghost again.
Down on my knees, and my hands in the air again.
Pushing my face in the memory of you again,
But I never know if it's real,
Never know how I wanted to feel.
Never quite said what I wanted to say to

I wil totally be there! Hopefully for the long hawl! ^^ And I will be buying at least some coffee, and I may be able to buy a pop or coffee for a few... possibly. But only if they cannot actually afford it themselves.
Oh and if anyone needs a ride from Sherwood Park feel free to ask! I have a small car but can fit at least 1 more. If Reki and Joel take his truck, I can fit 3 but I have little space for stuff and will need a heads up at least a few days advance.

Don't feel like you need to come all night or not at all! Part of the reason we moved to a public space was to make it easier for people to come and go as the whim strikes you. We will be doing that too!

I do appreciate that we're not pressured to stay all night, thanks ML's!
I think I'll be able to drop by, at least for a couple of hours early in the night. I'll post again when I know for sure.

OOoooh! This sounds quite delish and while it is very tempting to say that I will be there, after an 8 hour day at school, then work till 11 at the barest minimum with the possibility of staying till 8am, I'm going to have to skip this one.
Have fun everyone!

I am off work Nov. 6-8. My goal is to get a lot of writing done in that time, so I'll try my best to make it to Humptys. I definitely won't be pulling an all-nighter, but I'll try to at least make an appearance and introduce myself.

I'd love to, but if I'm going to in Rimbey by 9am Sat morning (awake and aware no less!), and ready to tangle with a bunch of kids to make them focus, I'm going to need my beauty sleep. Add in the fact that the restaurant is literally on the other side of the city, and I'm sure you can see my dilemma...
I'll be thinking of you all when my alarm clock goes off at an ungodly hour on Sat morning!

Good question, traxelr! :) We will be equipped with extension cords, plug adapters, and a power bar or two! We always invite people to bring power bars (preferably labeled in some way so you know which is yours at the end of the night) if they have them, just in case we run out of outlets, too.

I'm also thinking about heading out to this thing. This being a first time for me (as I usually tend to just huddle up in corner at home and write), do I just show up and find a space? :)
