I haven't posted excerpts before, but thought I might this year. Have any of you done it? Do you leave the best bit the whole time or do you keep changing the excerpts across the month? Have you had reactions, comments, big publishing contracts offered, etc?

Oral tradition is like Chinese whispers, so what you end up with probably bears little resemblence to the original tale.

I posted my exerpt right after I finished my first scene, before I went to bed at about 3 am. (After the time change.)

I post my first scene right after I get it done every year. Just like I always start right after midnight.

Comments, yes. Usually favorable. No comments yet on this year's. But I have received some favorable comments about my synopsis this year.

Publishing contracts?
Not even an offer to submit.
But if anyone does offer....

Do you leave the first scene for the entire month? Or do you change the excerpt from time to time? Guess I should ask if it's possible to change it?

I didn't put an excerpt up, but I think I will now. :-D The story's not great, but I really do need *something* in the Novel Info section.
And from what I can see, yes, you can change it.

Great excerpts, everyone. :-D

My thoughts so far are:

- I am never going fishing again

- I need a piece of chocolate cake

- "I don't have a title yet" would actually be a really good name for a book.

XD

Well, I guess you can all read mine, although it is hideously cheesy XD. It's in my synopsis in my profile.

2007: Heart and Soul (epic fail)
2008: Thoughtstream (slightly less epic fail)
2009: Relife (?)
Anime references: 1 Characters killed: 0 Characters who have changed themselves completely: 1

Yikes.
I did my second year, because it made me feel cool, and I don't think I got any comments.
I should try again, since Swamp and Star are hilarious together. Also, they're named Swamp and Star. How could that go wrong?

As one who has posted excerpts every year, I can say with authority, "DREAM ON!"
