Hi all. First time NaNo-ing (NaNoWriMo-ing?).

ANYWAY, any good suggestions for late night locales for writing? I find at home I get sleepy and distracted, and I think a different physical space will improve my headspace. Low financial impact is a plus.

I'm not sure where exactly in the area you are ( I'm in Newark, wayne county), but I'll try to help with some non-specific suggestions. One of my favorite places to sit and talk with my husband at any time is Dunkin Donuts (the white hot cocoa is delicious and they are open 24hrs). Tim Horton's also, in some locations I believe, is still 24hours. If the atmosphere works for you.. Wegmans is also open 24hrs, and all of the ones i've been to have little dining areas where you can sit.

That's all I can think of right now.

Welcome to NaNo!! :D Random has good suggestions! I was eyeballing my local Wegmans, too, because they actually have couches in their foodcourt area, which is always vacant during the late evenings. Tim Hortons also sounds like a good place. Barnes and Nobles is only open until 10pm, but there's generally a good vibe in there, too.

I'm wondering if it would ever be possible to have people over at someone's house, because I think that'd be a lot of fun :)

I was actually going to suggest my own apartment one of these nights! Anybody up for it, I'd love to host one! All I ask is bring munchies (chips, popcorn, whatever) and i'll provide the caffeine.. oh and if you want caffeine that isn't the cheap wegmans coffee, hot chocolate or black tea, bring your own, i'll be happy to brew it for you! :)

Any suggestions when? I'm pretty much wide open, just give me a day or so in advance notice so I can prep the place :P

Thanks for the suggestions!

I'm actually right in the city, in the Neighborhood of the Arts. Odd as it sounds, the nearest Tim Hortons is a little out of the way for me.

I hadn't thought of Wegmans as an alternative, and the Pittsford location is not too far, so maybe I'll give that a try.

The Pittsford Wegmans is a beautiful place, and they have SO MUCH SPACE - you could go there and not even get noticed for a few hours, I'm sure.
