So, here it is, day 2. You made it through one day of writing, and are now beginning to get an idea of how much dedication you're going to need to have in order to finish your word count. Are you starting to get testy when people/things interrupt you yet? If so, it's probably not as bad as it will be right around the beginning of week 2. Week 2 is where things just get hard. I don't know why but I always have a bit of a motivation problem around then. So, while you can get as many extra words as possible. It will help you if you have a day where you simply can't write another word, as well as helping you overall.

Post your daily word count here. Did you meet your goal?

Any unintelligible sentences?

I find that I have a lot of "to"'s in my novel that make no sense. For example, a sentence might be, "I was going to the store to get a hamburger to eat because to not eat it would make me too ill." BUT! I'm leaving it all so that when December comes around I can see just how much nonsense it makes. :)

Yep, met my cheerleader imposed goal of 3000 words. He's promised me a trip to Powell's as a reward. Looking forward to what tomorrow brings to my novel.

Today's count: 3142
Grand total: 5304

I'm not done for the day yet, so I won't post a word count. However, I wanted to say how awesome it is to see everyone else's word counts. :D Go Vancouver!!

And I think I need someone to promise me a trip to Powell's...

I hope it is missing. Your wife and I seem to speak the same language. That would just make my day if it were missing. I know, it may be slightly sadistic, but it WOULD keep your internal editor locked up!

I just passed the 7800 mark (cumulative) so I'm progressing well. I'll get in another hour after Heroes ends. My goal is to get to 50k before Thanksgiving if possible. Ambitious but I think I can do it.

A few people over at my writing forum are at 12k - 17k range. Wowee!

4166, according to open office's word-counting routines, which always seem to be more optimistic than NaNo's engine.

I was stymied briefly, because a new character was going to flippantly quote to the captain (MC) what make/model of space craft he was piloting.

oops, guess I needed to decide that, didn't I? Apparently it's an Anaconda class cargo ship of Vargr make.

Moving on ....

Hey Vancouver, guess what! Your MLs have challenged Hawaii to a Word War in addition to the one on one challenge in the Donation Derby, and they've accepted. In just a minute, there will be a new thread open where you can do a little trash talking with our friends in the Pacific. Keep in mind this is a friendly competition of course, but a little taunting never hurt anyone's word count.

Oh yeah. Speaking of, still working on mine. Hoping to hit 10K today, we'll see if the wrists hold out. I'm loving my story!

Hey all ^.^

This is my first year doing NaNo and I'm glad to be doing well so far!

Total words: 3,529

I went to Starbucks to write and was surprised to find that the story came more easily than yesterday.
People watching is also fun; a young Russian tot in his pajamas decided to take the chair opposite of mine at one point. He just sat there calmly, as though he was waiting for something to happen, until his father took him by the ear and dragged him away. Does anyone else find that unusual moments like this tend to crop up in your fiction later?

Hey, you're right on target--good job! Yeah, those random things definitely show up in the story later on. You'll find yourself describing a child, and suddenly he'll be wearing the same pajamas that little boy was, or some such thing.

Of course, pajamas don't really feature heavily in LOTR fanfic, so I don't know how it would manifest for me.

I just barely made my word count today, but i did it. I think i am definatly going to have to change character focus or something tomorrow, throw a wrench in the plot, or at least how the plot is unfolding... apparently a teleporting talking squirrel with a horn was not enough, though he got me through tonight.

Just barely is good enough, Drey. Seriously. There's a reason we tell everyone it's 1667 per day--that's still a healthy amount of writing!

Today: 4771
Total: 10010

The words are still coming incredibly easily. However, between the now constant ache in my wrist and the fact that I work tomorrow, I foresee a couple of very mild days in my future. I was hoping to get a good cushion over the weekend, and I did. Now I can relax a bit and rest the wrist. (This may be the pattern my NaNo takes this year--write like mad over the weekend, then just add a few hundred words a day during the week.)

I do that a great deal. Only got 871 done yesterday, but most of that is due to my sleeping schedule being irritated due to the time change and looking for some sort of, 'mainstream' job.

What's really entertaining is to go to some hole-in-the wall diner and get a booth next to some good ol' boys. You wouldn't believe the things you can overhear and integrate into your works.

So, I had over 4000 words typed up... until my thumbdrive decided to be evil. Good thing I always write out my story longhand first. Longhand I'd estimate that I have over 6000 words lol.
