Hey guys! Hope you're all off to a great start 8D
Err... I'm a junior at Deep Run High School, and my friend and I went to Twin Hickory Library today, where one of the librarians said the library can host NaNoWriMo meetings every Monday from 4:30pm to 6:30pm. We can work in the study rooms upstairs and just write. :3 When the rooms are reserved, we can use the conference rooms.
We only have 3 people so far, and around 8-ish people will be great... anyone can come, really, on any day.
Is anyone interested at all? Just throwing this out there :D It's the public library so you don't need reservations or anything. |D

I checked with The Almighty Authorities (read: Mom 'n Dad) and they say I can go. Which is good, because I doubt that they'd let me go to a write-in at the Capital Alehouse even if I asked.
I have a question about the library, though: Do they have any computers that we could use there? If not, I'll probably end up writing longhand (which isn't that big a problem, but still).
And Pyromaniac_Doll: I've got some bad writer's block, too... Maybe not as bad as yours (Judging from the current comparison) but it does make me feel kinda bad when I check where I "should" be and where I currently am. :(

Shoot, sorry about the double post. This site seems to have trouble loading, for me, for some reason. Must be all those darn writer-folk on the forums. And I can't delete messages, so.... Edit. Yeah.

I lost my writer's block for five minutes. I also lost what I had written in that five minutes. Still at 1131 words.... -sob-

@Jonas: Yeah, they have computers, but you need a library card, I think, to use them. If you don't have one, I think they might make an exception for a Nanowrimo...... dunno. There are lots of computers on the second floor. Do you have a laptop?
@Pyro: Oh noes not writer's block D: All I can say is... try to get inspiration from the world around you? x3;; Good luck tho ;;;;
I hope you guys can make it 8D And no worries about going every Monday.

Shokolaet: I have a library card... For West End Library. I dunno if it still applies at a different branch, but it might. The reason I was asking about computers there was because I don't have a laptop (desktop, yes, but that's not very portable...), but I might be able to borrow my dad's for the time of the write-in, if, beyond all odds, he does not need it at that time. At worst, I can always write longhand. I've done it before, and I don't mind it, but I -do- find it easier to organize thoughts through a computer. (I love the backspace key to death. Oh, and how you can go back into previous text and add something without worrying about space!)
Pyro: The best thing for writer's block is to wait, I think... But, Nano being Nano, that might not work. So can I try to give you a couple methods that seem to work (somewhat) for me? Writing immediately in the morning seems to help. If you've got to get up an hour before normal, well... Go to sleep early. But early in the morning seems an ideal time for creativity.
----------Then, you've got character interaction. Try to get into your characters' heads and figure out what they'd do in the current situation, and move along that way. So long as you keep on putting words down, you're doing well.
If you think you've taxed all your character interaction, have something- anything- happen. This is always more easily said than done, it seems to me (for instance, I've got like 2000 words of character interaction... I need something to happen for conflict, dangit). But if you have something happen (and don't be afraid to have something bad happen to your characters!) then you can go to character reactions, and that might help move things along.
Anyway, that's all I got. I hope it helps, and that I didn't come off as a wannabe know-it-all. ^.^;

Jonas, if it's part of the Henrico Library branch, it should work. ^^
Pyro, I agree with the comment about early in the morning. It does seem to be a fitting time for novel writing 8D I always want to write in the morning but school busts everything D8 I hope you figure out your writer's block!

Alright everyone, our first NaNoWriMo write-a-thon is coming up at the library this Monday. We already have four people guaranteed to come. If you are not one of these, please still try to come and if we can't all fit in the room we can split up or find a new location in the library. How is everyone doing on their word count? Are you keeping up with your daily goal? If not, don't fret, we will do plenty of work on Monday. I can't wait to see you there!

I may be able to make it. I usually get off work at 3:30 on Mondays and I'm currently not in school [ taking a year off to think about what to major in. ] Of course, I'll still have to ask my parents, but... we'll see. =]

Jonas: if you don't have a library card for the Henrico County Public Schools its totally free to sign up. So either way, you're set. :)
I'm so stoked guys!

It was great to see some of you come to the NaNoWriMo meeting at the library last Monday. We had so much fun and, while we didn't get much work done or really help each other that much, we had fun and I hope to see all of you come back this coming Monday. I also can't wait to see some other people at the next meeting. We tried to put a sign up downstairs but we couldn't so if you come into the library and can't find us we are upstairs in the conference room. There will be a sign on the window of the conference room that is across the room from the staircase, but if you can't find us, just ask for directions to the meeting place from the librarians. I encourage everyone to try to come and bring food so we can have even more fun. I hope to see all of you there, and continue to write fluently and productively. See you Monday!

I'll try to bring food this time...or at least a bit more than fifteen kernals of white chedder popcorn. Haha, really though it would be nice if some other people would join us. Don't be afraid, we don't bite. I think last meeting was really productive though. I'm almost caught up to the word count!
By the way, if you do come, most of us have laptops so it is encouraged that you bring one of your own, or be prepared to go old fashioned with your pencil and paper. Just a heads up. If that's how you roll anyway, then you're all set!
Hopefully we'll see you there!
