As a region, we already have almost 88K words.

Write on, friends, write on.

Doing my share to contribute words. That's all I can say right now because this drivel I'm writing is not a novel.

Hi Rebecca,

7+k of them are mine, and I'll raise you a cup of coffee that mine has an equally high drivel content.

And yes, write on!

I have a feeling that my novel-to-be has the highest drivel-to-word count ratio, which is slightly upsetting and slightly hilarious. But hopefully it will pick up. I hate beginnings.
Your guys' high word counts are making me competitive! I need to keep writing! -returns to furiously pounding on the keyboard-

Who's written a bar scene already? Those are good word count fluffers.

OK, I'm sitting here with my drivelly 1313 word count and reading the boards. My characters are in the wood - literally and figuatively speaking... I guess it's time for a bar scene, maybe with the woodchucks... right...

Cat: If you haven't already, use the NaNo 'Rescuing Your Plot' sheet. There's a grid of numbers 1-10, and you close your eyes and pick two, and the resulting number corresponds to a thing to rescue your plot. It may not fix any plot holes, but it sure does fluff up word counts!
I've already had my poor, poor character meet (briefly) a teacher she hates from the past, and swallow a fly. Poor thing. She has OCD and freaked out for hours.

If you don't have it, I THINK this is the link... my Acrobat reader isn't working, so I can't tell.

I'm hoping my current drivel (two chapters, one sex scene, some cursing, poop on a bible, and two deaths) will evolve into something resembling literature as I approach the 50k mark. Right now, I'm happy with the first 7600 words so far, though. It feels so good to finally flesh out (and take out) these characters after a month plus of outlining.

First things first, you folks are doing amazingly well. Not your word counts, I mean, coming here to spur on more (possibly drivilious) writing.

Second - Go all of you! I'm in Cat's boat, I've got characters who held a gun on one another and it hasn't grabbed me so far. Time to turn up the heat.

Abba you're totally right, the plot randomizer is a great way to jump start your novel - but don't forget! If in doubt?

Just Add Ninjas.

I have used the plot randomizer before, and I wish I could use it now, but as it is, most things in that list will not work with the drivel I've been writing so far. This is the first time I've started with a plot. Usually I just have characters and see what happens. This time I have the opposite, a plot, but no real characters, and since most scenes take place in group settings, I have a lot of dialogue not belonging to anybody specific.

Well, since my brother's sick and the school nurse won't let me on campus because of it, I have nothing to do but NaNo! (And fall rediculously bedhind on homework. Goody Goody. I do try and do some. Then I remember I'm writing a novel. Math homework's overrated anyway, right?)
I don't think I have Too Too much drivel. It's def. there though. *pokes chapter 1*

I'm completely dragging us down. You're welcome. But I will have at it tonight, and I will have plenty of time to catch up soon.

Oh, hell, I'm starting all over again. This is supposed to be *fun*. Right from the beginning, I kind of hoped my main character would go ahead and do the world a favor and drive herself off a bridge, but she wasn't even interesting enough for me to orchestrate her driving off a bridge. Every word I was typing made me want to hurl my laptop across the room.

Starting again from Word Zero, with a whole new genre, plot, main character and point of view.

And it's going to be FUN. Dammit. LOL

Go ahead start all over Rosewood - you have plenty of time! My story is not going where I want it to go either - and it should be fun - you want to like your main character. So I have to do a major change to make me like the people but I won't start all over.
Hang in there. Kakki

I have no emotional attachment to any of my characters, which is good, since I'm killing most of them off.
