HI! it's me Mr.Unexperienced or Derrick witch ever you prefer really.

This being my first nanowrimo I am just giddy when I see my word count pass certain marks! Like right now I just hid 5k and I'm in a state of permanent bounce for at least a while.

So what I was wondering what are some of your milestones? have you hit any yet? what are your favorites?

Derrick I'm really happy for you! (Particularly as it seemed you were roped into this at the last minute!)

Derrick,

Mine are usually:

10,000 words (which I try to hit by day 3) -- 20% down on paper, and the story is starting to happen!
25,000 words (which I try to hit by days 10-12) -- halfway there!
40,000 words (which I try to hit before week 4) -- I'm in the home stretch!
50,000 words (which I hope to hit before day 30!) -- Am I done already? Shoot!

The toughest thing is hitting around 30,000 and realizing you're getting burned out. But push on! It gets easier once you get to 40k.

Since I crossed into 5K yesterday, that was my goal, I was happy. I had no goal today but ended up at 8300. I had today off so it was easier my next will be 10k, and depending how the story is rolling the next might be 20k, if not rolling 15k we will see. Congrats, having been put in your place my first year, I celebrated every milestone. You can do it, the story may go places you wouldn't dream, but it may go the way you think...you will write and see!

A good book and a cup of tea, what more can you ask for?
