Place your bets, folks....
As those of us who have nano'd in Victoria before know, Josh (also known as Alcar) is Mr. Speedy Gonzales when it comes to Nanos. I can't think of a year since I've been participating when he wasn't the first person to hit 50,000. As of this moment that I'm writing this, his word count is already about 13,000 and change. Yes, that's right, over one-quarter of the way there on the second day. One year he wrote about 100,000 words in 30 days, while the rest of us (ahem, me) resorted to adding complicated and meaningless dream sequences to our novels just to pad the word count!
Soooo, I'm thinking, let's make a friendly wager. Record your best guess for when he finishes this year in this post. Winner gets a prize - something cheap and funny - to be delivered at the post-Nano whatever we do this year.
Personally, I'm going with November 13th.
Any takers?
Kris

*Blush* Thank you for all your kind words as it has made my day or rather evening. Now I must complete my other two goals in order to truly feel fulfilled and that is to finally make friends and also attend at least three meet-ups/write-ins.

Friends are easy to make if you share an interest. I'm pretty sure by attending the meet-ups and write ins you will get that goal covered as well.

Ira is like a freakin' writing ninja.... I wish I was into my story enough to write so much....
the last time that happened was when I wrote my first fanfic....it was so massive. (198,000 words in total, in 11 weeks)
since then writing is so painful *cries* My characters hate me.

Don't worry Josh. We won't shoot you. Although, I must say I am disappointed that you let someone else take the "writing ninja" title this year! Are you slipping in your old age!
Okay, so Ira gets something funny and cheap as a prize for being first to complete. But the bet still stands for Josh.

*Blush* I think it's my characters that make me write so much. As I write my story I get really attached to them. "Writing Ninja" that sounds very cool though I must confess I'm a little embarrassed. I was a ninja for Halloween XD

...which is why i picked the 7th in the first place ;)
...but now i won't see ya until the 15th... which means i'll have a whole 'nother week to plot revenge if you miss the target date of nov. 7th
...after all, a 9mm hole to the head just isn't interesting enough... perhaps it'll have to involve pizza-popsicles...

I am in favour of someone using the shovel. Especially in their nano. Even on me
... it would add wordcount.
"And since Alcar did not finish his draft on the day I said he would, the shovel of death descended and smote him most smotily. The characters kept walking, not noticing this, their survival instincts having given them a blind spot to their peculiar god's insertion of dares and dare-kin into their story."
