North Shore - Write-In Information

Salutations!

I will be adding information about write-in's in this thread. If anyone else is interested in arranging a write-in on the North Shore feel free to add it to this thread as well. The more write-in's that happen, the more novels will bed completed.

The first write-in will take place at the Borders by the North Shore Mall on November 1st at 7 pm.

I need to go down and check the place out (haven't been to that one yet) for outlets and just alert the management that a group will be coming in and taking over part of their establishment. No laptop? Come anyway. I actually like to write longhand (on yellow legal pads) so you can have a word war with me if you show up.

As soon as the powers that be are able to grant me access to the calendar I'll enter any / all write-in's there that will happen.

So - I'm thinking a regular Thursday night write-in at Borders by the North Shore Mall and a regular Monday? Tuesday? (whichever one works better for the masses) in / around NBPT (possibly Cafe di Sienna - need to scope out outlets). Then, if anyone wants to organize one another weeknight / weekend let me know.

Monday - October 29th - North Shore - Kick-off Meeting

North Shore NaNoWriMo Kick-off Meeting
WHERE: Food Court @ The North Shore Mall (not the Liberty Tree Mall)
WHEN: 7.00 pm - 8.00 pm

I'll print out some table reservation signs and will hopefully have my ML cap by then (according to other ML's that's what they have). Otherwise, I have red hair and will wear a 'novelist' type of a shirt and might be running late - depending on hubby's ride home from work. So, if I'm not there at 7 pm sharp please - have faith that I will arrive by 7.15 pm.

We can decide on write-in's from there. There allegedly is a calendar function for ML's but I haven't found it yet. Once I do I can put meetings on there and the meetings will be e-mailed out to everyone.

At the TGIO party, we decided that we want to keep our group going throughout the year: staying in touch, meeting every so often, etc.

Here is the thread that you should post/subscribe to, since it's the one where we'll do all our Post-NaNo 2007 planning.

We're going to try meeting in January... I'll probably post something shortly after New Year's.

In the meantime, have a happy, safe holiday season and feel free to post your ideas for 2008's events here.

I called the restaurant and they assured me that since this is their non-busy time, reservations for a group our size are not necessary, however, it would be helpful to me to know if you plan on coming and I'll let them know.

You are welcome to bring your literary masterpiece and if so inclined, may read up to a 1000-word excerpt to a table of your peers. Or not... as you choose. We've all been very diligent on our writing, but now we can put that aside and compare notes, eat too many nachos and celebrate!

1. Who's planning on coming to the wrap-up/TGIO party?

2. Do we want to meet at a nice place for dinner somewhere or do we want to go to D'Angelo for old times sake? (By nice, I am thinking a sit-down moderately priced restaurant and would love suggestions.)

Word Count War: Helping Boston?

I signed up for United States: Massachusetts: Elsewhere as my home region because being outside 128, I didn't quite think of myself as part of United States: Massachusetts: Boston, but I did sign up on that as one of my regions.

Turns out the silly buggers are in a word war with LA, and getting their butts kicked. (word counts by region available here: http://www.nanowrimo.org/wordcount_stats )

LA is at 8,415,789 words.

Boston is at 6,538,083 words.

However.... "Elsewhere" in Massachusetts is at 2,331,607 words.

If, and it's a big "if", enough "Elsewhere" people are like me, just outside Boston, and decided to switch over, then it might be possible for Boston to win.

I'm still trying to decide, myself. But I thought I'd put it out there. :-)

Southwest Region of Elsewhere (Milford/Franklin/Bellingham/Woonsocket)

We now have a Southwest Region of Elsewhere!

This will be my 4th year of NaNoWriMing and after having to drive about an hour to any NaNo activities, I decided this region needs its own ML. I just got word that I am now official as the ML for here. I sure hope that I am NOT the only person in this region!

Please introduce yourselves and let me know if you find days/weekends/evenings to be best for a meetup. (I figure we can do some of each, but it *would* be nice to have a time that's convenient for most for our kick-off.)

As for where to meet... I'm thinking either the Panera in Franklin or the coffee shop on Rte 109 in Medway, but am open to other suggestions.

Plymouth Meetup Thursday Nov 8th

Happy second day everyone! I hope we're all making progress and getting our word counts up there. This morning myself, goinboggy and clpam met up at Panera in Plymouth and shared coffee and writing stories, and squeezed out an impressive 150 words or so a piece.

We're planning on doing it again next Thursday morning, if anyone is interested in coming. We'll be meeting at Kiskadee Coffee in downtown Plymouth, 7:30am to 9am or so, and I know I'd love to see more people there, I'm sure they would as well. If you need directions, here is a link to a Google map of whereabouts it is.

Maybe it's between them and Vermont and the Massachusetts - Boston Area? I'm going to write to the NH moderator, Tia Marie and see.

Hey everybody-
I am a Newbie from the Southcoast-
and I'm looking forward to the NaNoWriMo challenge
( with only a bit of fear and loathing)
My inner critic is tenacious and will have to be beaten back everyday
but I really love the idea that we are all in this together.
Any other southcoasters want to meet up at Baker Books cafe?
