One thing I was looking into this year was possibly scheduling a write-in or two at the Burlington Public Library (http://www.burlingtonpubliclibrary.org/). If anyone's interested, let me know and I'll see about making the arrangements.

Where do you write?

I find that I write best in nano write-ins at the cottage in Easton. There are no distractions there. When the room is silent except for the typing of keys, I feel that I need to do the same. And if I sit in front of a window, I'm afraid that someone will see if I start going on facebook or something, lol. So I was wondering, where does everyone else prefer to write?

Write ins in Easton

Hi guys,

For the second year, there will be "write-ins" at the Ames Free Library Cottage at 56 Main Street in North Easton to celebrate November as National Novel Writing Month. The cottage will be a place for writers to come together to write from 5:30-7:30 on Tuesday and Thursday evenings throughout November. On Thursday October 29 from 6:30-7:30, there will be a kick-off event at the Cottage, where people interested in the group can meet each other and learn about the program. Anyone in the general Swansea - New Bedford area? If so I would love to meet people participating. I know I did it one year and we met in N. Dartmouth (though I had to bow out later in the month). But I think it would be great to meet people again. It's so much more conductive to writing :)

Raynham Write-in at The Raynham Public Library

Several Write-Ins this month at the Raynham Public Library.
They have a community room downstairs which we are welcome to use.
The dates are:

Monday November 9th, from 6-8 pm
Saturday November 21st, from 10am-noon
Monday November 30th, from 6-8 pm (this is the FINAL day of NaNoWriMo)

The Library is located at 760 South Main Street, Raynham MA 02767 (508) 823-1344 www.raynhampubliclibrary.org

The library does have WiFi.

Seems like there are some folks from around Freetown, Lakeville, Easton, New Beford. Hope to see you there.

A Kickoff in Milford & an Apology

Yesterday morning, I sent an email to everyone affiliated with this region inviting them to the kickoff for the Milford/Bellingham/Franklin region and apologizing for the lateness of the invite.

Due to a general bogging down of the Nano-mail systems, it doesn't look like that message has made it out yet. So, let me tell you about the event here:

Tonight, a 7pm, we are holding our annual kickoff party at the Courtyard Marriott in Milford (just off of Rte 495 at the Rte 85) exit. We're meeting in the main dining room where I have a reservation for those that RSVPed from my group. Obviously, you could not RSVP if you never received the invite! Ordering a meal and/or drinks is optional.

You are all still invited. I have prepared extra goodie bags and will have some extra places at our table. If you can RSVP to this thread, so much the better, but if not, don't let that stop you from coming!

Hope to see you there! (And I wonder when you'll get the email)

I saw a thread like this on another board, and it looked intriguing. I'm trying to decide if I can spend a month with either of these ideas:

A) The day after the Mother of All Bad Gigs, a musician sells everything and moves on to whatever is next.

B) During an otherwise unremarkable baseball game, a player takes a mighty swing and crushes the skull of a fan in the front row.

Anybody else feel like sharing what you're going to write? Got a response to either of these?

Also, anybody in the Mansfield/Attleboro/Foxboro area interested in doing the occasional group-write?

Hey guys...I was searching the regions and found that there are really none anywhere near me. The Massachusetts border is the "closest," being an hour or more's drive away. Anybody have a write-in group for the kick off, or am I just going to have to do it online? Is that even possible...?

Please give me some advice. I don't want to seem snooty by not making it to a write-in, just because I don't live anywhere near one. x_x

We'll be meeting at the Milford Courtyard Marriott dining room at 7pm.

The Courtyard is at 10 Fortune Blvd., Milford, MA, just off of the Rte 85 exit on Rte 495.

Because they are serving dinner that evening, I would appreciate an RSVP by midnight, October 31st. (Dining is optional. They have a pretty diverse menu.)

For our kick-off, I am asking people whether they listen to music when they write? Has a song ever inspired you to write something? Would you like a NaNo-inspired music CD?

Simply send me your favorite writing song and I will burn CDs for members of our region. And if it turns out that we are suddenly a large group, I'll use the first song that each person sends me. If the group is TOO big, I might even ask for some compensation for the CDs.

I will burn a CD for each person that contributes either a song or has a halo over their user name by October 31st!
