So, what's your story about? How are you attacking it? Do you have a plan/synopsis in place or are you making it up as you go along?

Do you consider yourself character/plot/idea/dialogue/other driven?

What are your strengths?

What are your weaknesses?

What do you do when you hit a wall?

What do you do rather than write? ie I will write today, just as soon as I've...(we call this cat vacuuming)

My story is about a rock band who get chosen by one of the headlining acts to go on a national festival tour. But it is also going to be about ghosts. Louise Stelland is my main chicka and it was about 3 years ago that she lost her boyfriend Orestes in some kind of mysterious accident (I haven't decided what happened yet, just that he died...the gory details haven't been delved into, that will come later).

She meets a cute but strangely well-behaved rock star from one of the other bands on the tour, and they find out after talking lots throughout the tour that neither of them date - he has his own reasons (as yet not decided on by me), while her reason is purely Orestes. They sort of confide in each other but in metaphors, not really spelling out awful truths. I guess you could call it beating round the bush.

Anyway, Louise also meets this annoying guy who is secretly her guardian. My original idea was that he would see her on stage and see heaps of ghosts around her, all coming to her for attention - but she doesn't know it. And when she figures out that he can see ghosts, she round-aboutly asks about her lost boyfriend, and is devastated to learn that he is nowhere to be found. This is because he's happy where he is, 'at peace', and had no need to stick around.

But...not sure where I will end up going with the ghost stuff anymore. I guess time will tell. Meanwhile Louise is also dealing with the ultra sleazy member of another band who really wants to get in her pants, just because she's always refused him. She hates him, but he doesn't know when to quit.

Do you consider yourself character/plot/idea/dialogue/other driven?

Definitely character, but you need a good plot with twists & turns too!

What are your strengths?

Probably dialogue is one of my main strengths, and characterisation.

What are your weaknesses?

Going into needless detail sometimes? I'm trying to learn how to write without writing out every single event that occurs. I think I'm doing quite well on that count lately.

What do you do when you hit a wall?

With this story so far I haven't hit a wall. But in the past I have just thought of some random event. like suddenly the characters are at a store or walking along a street...or I may introduce a new character to get things going again. Etc.

What do you do rather than write? ie I will write today, just as soon as I've...(we call this cat vacuuming)

Spend my whole day at work (boo)...i try to do my physio exercises first, but usually only get half done ,then have to do the other half before going to bed.

My story is actually based on my WoW characters. I play on an RP server (a US server I might add...because they don't have any Oceanic RP servers! >:( ) and the collective back stories of my characters is something that I've always wanted to do. Because I have so many that I play on a regular basis, I have a lot to write about! I'm just tap-tappin' away with my 1667+ words a day.

I have no idea whether I'm character, plot, idea or dialogue driven. I'd say a little bit of everything. But now come to think of it, the main character - the anarchist known as 'A' - uses a lot of very long words. So when I write for him (or rather, when I do - he hasn't actually entered the story yet) I'd say that I will be dialogue driven, just for A.

My strengths entering this competition would definitely be knowing exactly what I wanted to write about. I've gone over these stories so many times before that I virtually know it all off my heart. I have the simple desire to get it all down on paper...er...on screen.

Weaknesses...Well, I do have a fear that my momentum will slow to a complete halt at some point. I suppose if I write at least 1667 words a day that won't happen. And that number is hardly a challenge to achieve on a daily basis as long as one knows what one wants to write about.

When I do hit that wall, I'll just keep writing. Even if it is complete and utter nonsense.

BEFORE November, I was playing WoW. But I've quit for a month so that I can focus on this. However, when I am writing, I do have tS3 running in windows mode (my original sim FINALLY died today).

I have heard about how addictive WoW can be - how are you doing not playing it?? LOL

I figure if you still get to write about your characters it's not entirely cold turkey! ;)

A lot of my guildies - in fact all of them - are US players and at the time this whole thing started were getting together for a Halloween BBQ. I'm going to go all that way for one of those crazy celebrations one day, just meet them all in person, but anyway...

Thanks Giving is also coming up and in the weeks leading up to and following November 25th, things get really quiet. So I figure that I'd be a little lonely on WoW this months anyway.

Otherwise, I wouldn't say I'm addicted...I just have a lot of time on my hands.

Well that's good, I've heard some horror stories ;)

I've met tonnes of friends from online roleplaying sites in the past, I highly recommend it! of course there are always those you KNOW you never want to meet, you can just tell some people are creeps. But all in all everyone I have met through those channels I have not been disappointed in at all .

In fact at the end of this year I'm going to be hanging out with some I've met before and also meeting ones I haven't hung out with yet!

My story is about a girl whose life turns upside down when she goes to university for the first time, and she deals with it by falling in love with a dead cryptanalyst that she "meets" through studying history. Its also a bit about how gay people were treated in the early to mid 20th Century but that was a bit by coincidence. I'm inventing a genre called Psychotic Romance Historial Lit. I make it up as I go along.

I'm idea driven but this piece seems more plot driven.

My strengths are sticking at it even when I can't think straight.

My weaknesses are my tendency to overwrite and my overuse of commas.

When I hit a wall I listen to music, go for a walk along the river, read a book or talk to my dog (and sometimes I make him talk back...oh dear.)

I study for exams rather than write. Or lately I also watch Scrubs. Or go on facebook.
