This is to encourage those of you who have done this before, win or lose, to help out new folks. Or get help for yourself.
If you are willing to help, put your name in the hat here. If you need help do the same.
Then send messages back and forth to keep it going.
I have found that some kind of daily check in with each other really helps.
So go to it folks!

I'm risking looking like a real Billy-no-mates here since I already tried starting a buddy thread that got no takers, but... I got a lot out of having a buddy last year and would be game to try that again.

Hey Billy. That's perfect, Billy buddies with Billy no mates :)
I am slightly daunted by the rate at which you are stacking up the words mind you.
I'll drop you a nano-mail. :)

This is my second year.
Unfortunately, last year didn't go so well for me and I didn't make it to 8000 words.
I hope to do better this year though, and think I have picked better, albeit more difficult, subject matter.
If someone wants to be my buddy it would be greatly appreciated. :D
Thanks,
Sam

First year doing this, and feel it might be good to get some two way encouragement going on...
NaNo, at the moment seems to be less "Novel" and more collection of stories and random threads.

The more buddies the better. **smiles** as for stacking up the word counts. Once i get going on a spirit no stopping me, insomina helps a lot LOL. My novel is taking an intresting turn, having half of the world blown up by mages WOOT!

Hi, never asked for a buddy before but am up for it as I'm needing some reassurance to knw the rubbish I'm writing isn't just rubbish LOL. sure it isn't but when you work on your own it can be rather daunting. So if anyone wishes to buddy up with me - that'd be great. Many thanks in advance.

Sam, what's your subject matter? Mine is difficult and sketchy...I don't even know what genre I fit into yet :)

It is an informal arrangement. When I buddy up with someone, I'll send them a PM or email every day and ask how they are doing. I add them to my friend list so I can watch their word count.
I have asked folks to be positive and encouraging. No beating each other up. If the buddy is stuck, I offer suggestions or just let them know we all get stuck and share things I've done to help me get through.
It is something you work out between yourselves. Some folks need a bit harder poking than others. But the deal is, if you buddy up, you keep communicating. If you get a message, always reply.
Does that help?

Mine is sort of Adventure/Fantasy genre. I'm not sure yet either because I haven't got that far into it.
All I know so far is that there is a group of 4 people, 2 gay males and 2 straight females on a hunt for treasure. Meanwhile there will be a backstory of the pirate (who is also gay) whose the treasure belongs. I'll figure out more for the plot as I get further in.
What's yours?

Hmm, didn't see this last year, but I don't really go on the forums here much. Too distracting, lol. Nice idea :)
I think I'm too anti-social to be a good writing buddy though ;)
----------Still, anyone who wants to can feel free to message me anytime and I'll reply when I get on to update my word counter.
