So I'm wondering if anyone else has experienced this - my novel (bad moon rising) is writing it's own direction and it's very dark.
So since this is happening, i just started looking back at stuff and before I hit 25K and in 4 chapters, this is what I've managed to do to my characters - ie, NOT NICE Stuff -(teach them for hi-jacking my story)
- Physical Assault
-Emotional assault
-Hit them with car / run them over
-Claw them with werewolf claws (like talons!!!!GRR)
-Ambush them
-have there own pack turn against them (Muwhahaha)
- Uncontrollable sickness like fever and fits
-maim them
-blackouts
-admit they can't dance in public
-thrown into walls

Introduced the MC who I've found out is a bit selfish and precious. (Oh woah is me, I've been ordered several million years across space to live in a luxury apartment with my own golf course, ground skimmer and domestic staff but i have to work for my father.. the pain the pain!) And he's just met the resident bad guy though he doesn't know it yet.
Oh yes... he's discovered that he is the temporary owner and care taker of an alien ferin slave, at least until his father gets back.
And the gardner fell off the roof and broke his wrist.
So far so good.

My novel is (as most of you now know because I say it so much) a 2 year old project which is being rewritten, so it's about 30k words in though my Nano word count is only somewhere around 17k at the moment (I have to go triple-time for exams).
My MC has been shot with tranquiliser and paralytic agents on multiple occasions, and spends most of the first part either in holding cells, in curiously elastic bonds, or wandering the detention levels not understanding what's going on. But fortunately he will make it out in the next few thousand words, and then the real fun begins.
I've only killed one character so far, and he saw it coming. He saw a few dozen armoured soldiers coming his way so he figured he'd try fending them off with a concealable stungun.

So far, (bear in mind that this is barely 5000 words in) I've had one of my main supporting characters brutally assaulted and stabbed in the bathroom at her high school by a gang of girls. And one of the main plotlines of my book is about an abusive relationship.
Interestingly, the assault in the bathroom was actually really, really personally upsetting to write. But I keep reminding myself that that's the effect I'm trying to have on my reader. Not upsetting for the sake of being upsetting, mind, but I'm trying to have an emotional effect on the reader. Laugh when the characters are laughing, cry when they're crying, etc.
----------You could have said a word, but you turned away. Or do you always act in such a passive way?

In my D&D story Irelle and Eric have walked into an army dining hall, sat down, Eric (the halfling) has been mistaken for a child and is now of seeing the ladies of the night with a drunkard who refers to himself as King, and Irelle is shopping for magical thigns with a woman the colour of the blue on this site.
So, I have done nothing with them, and they hate me for it lol.

While it is not COMPLETELY obvious that the person in the prologue is the main character, it does mean that I have dropped him off a cliff, and then covered him in pig's slops, chasing a chicken and crashing into a load of fresh laundry hung out to dry...and while still messy from this encounter I am about to set him on his ass in front of his best friend and a bunch of younger boys who look up to him. Now that I think on it, this should also happen in front of some female character...

So far I've killed off one character and the main character just found his body. Apart from that there's been a lot of people yelling dramatically at each other and some ominous staring.
I'm actually a little worried that my mc is becoming attracted to my evil character instead of the romantic lead. Who hasn't been introduced yet. I should go introduce him and see if that fixes it...
