They say a good writer can write anywhere, under any circumstances.
Personally I think that's a load of bollocks. What are the little things that keep you guys ticking?

- I find that being caffeinated is the only time I can be creative, and that lying down makes me type faster.

me at the moment.. I'm starting to chug along to Avenue Q songs...and I'm about to go get myself a cup of tea.. since coffee makes me violently ill I want to be able to write and not hug a toilet all night..

^.^

But for the moment it's music and tea that get me through...

Although it is funny trying to write serious scenes to Avenue Q's "be as loud as the hell you want when your making love"

I've been slightly under the influence of intoxicating liquor the last two nights... and now I'm over 10k. I'm not sure if those two facts are related.

Usually I require silence, or at least only a background hum (no stand-out type loud noises).

Silence, huh? Didn't you mention you had a baby? Going from the experience of my tiny lil' brother, this must mean you have a very full, bribed and contented child |D

I definately need to be lying down, or at the very least reclining XD I also can't have any music, it makes me too distracted XZ XD

I find I work best when it's very late and I'm terribly sleep deprived, I'm talking 2-6 am XZ

And there is just no way I could ever write anything with the TV on! XD

I find that I write best when the house is quiet - I've been writing between 11pm - 4am these past few nights. I like having music on, something that doesn't have words.

Right now, it's the Silent Hill 2 soundtrack.

But I've written in cafes, in Borders, in front of the TV, or while watching people play games.

Coffee. Black. Strong. Plenty of sugar.

Sounds weird. Most people who drink black coffee seem to be puritan about it so as to turn their nose up at sugar as well. But coffee takes on an almost fruity quality like this, as opposed to tasting like a glorified hot chocolate. I can't drink it with milk.

Music helps me a lot as well. I actually have play-list's of music I associate with various moods, if I have to get into a particular mindset then I'll listen to them. On a similar note various genres of music help stimulate various genres of writing. Fusion Jazz, Hardstyle and Metal for Sci-fi. Swing Jazz, Latin, Trance, Grunge for Fantasy.

Oh and River, my trusty laptop. She helps. :3

Chaos my laptop still lives, though he is far from trustworthy...

He always had a mind of his own.. and even now after I reformatted him he hasn't changed a bit.. still the same old cheeky bugger who just runs a little more quickly now than before...

Yeah, the more the word "trusty" is brought up, the higher the chance of total laptop failure. With a total kill count of two power supplies, and an almost worn out lid-cable, I'd say mine is fairly trusty.
But I wouldn't trade it for anything. ('anything' excluding a better laptop, money, or various other goods of worth)

Uhh...I can pretty much write anywhere, as long as I have my laptop. If I don't, then I can write in my notebook, but I'm less enthusiastic.

I like to have a good cup of tea though, and a good soundtrack. Avenue Q is my album of choice at the moment, give or take a little Hairspray/John Butler.

I tend to write better late at night, mostly because it's the one time where people stop asking me to do things. Background noise is also required, something not too obtrusive running preferably on tv. Something frivolous that I can pay attention to when I get frustrated.

Course at the moment I've kinda been existing in a coma-like state (damn uni assignments).

Tea, lots and lots of tea. I plot to music but I rarely write to music because I usually end up typing the lyrics. Even if I listen to classical then I usually get caught up in the music and don't end up writing anything at all.

Funnily enough, I always have really good ideas when I'm at work in the office. I usually head in early to write for half an hour before I start, an hour at lunch then I hang around for a bit after 5. Luckily we're not too busy and all there is to do is admin work so if I do write, I don't get into trouble..well, too.much trouble anyway.

I write better at night, and when I'm not too anxious. Otherwise I can write anywhere.

I "double write" some of my story - write on paper during the day, usually during my lunchbreak, then retype it at night.

I do have a laptop but I can't take a personal laptop into work.

As to needs, I find I can now write just about anywhere although I do like to be left alone to do it. Music's OK but I avoid lyrics or I find myself including them in the story.
