For years I've struggled to get started on my entries and earlier this year I was diagnosed with dyslexia. This might have been my problem so I thought I'd ask if there were any others in a similar situation in Glasgow that have any hints as to how to get past this particular hurdle?

Me!! I was just playing in the forums before attempting to do some writing. It's gone fine the first couple of days, but reading and writing always make me tired, i've had a long day at work, and have a cold/ cough. So not feeling positive at the mo!! One of my motivators is that people say "your dyslexic and your going to write 50,000 words in a month? you sure that's a good idea?" I am so stubbon and want to prove them wrong!! Just remember you have strength as well as weaknesses, and play to your strengths.
I'll add you as a buddy.

I have no clue on spelling and grammer (i have dyslexia) please be nice to me, when/ if you point out mistakes!

glad to see you've written something. I'm going with the little and often approach when it seems that there is an impossible mountain to climb. Even a couple of 100 words can help you feel better about your word count, you can do it.

that would be me as well!! about two years ago I was diagnosed by the woman who runs the American Institute of dyslexia, as most severely dyslexic under 18-year-old in America. or at least, that's what she told me after the test. I'm doing really well with my novel, due to my voice recognition software (Dragon NaturallySpeaking version 10 preferred). I would highly recommended Dragon NaturallySpeaking to any dyslexics! I use it in conjunction with another software called "confident reader", it reads anything textual online out loud to me, and the voice isn't even really that mechanical. I haven't really had a very hard time keeping up with my word count (as you can see). yesterday I attended a write-in,we did some Word wars, and I one! before I got my computer I never would have dreamed of even thinking of participating in a campaign like this, it's amazing to be able to have come so far in such a short period of time. But yes, there are other dyslexics participating. There's even an "excellent specimen of dyslexia," participating. good luck everyone, I hope your novels are successful!

I use voice recognition software, because I am very highly dyslexic. I can't "read" or "right". So if you notice any mistakes in my writing, I am very sorry!
