Hi all,

I am putting together an article about NaNo and would like to give it a Bristol / Bath focus. I don't know for who I'm writing it yet but would be great to get a local feel to it. Would anyone like to volunteer any stories about perhaps finishing some work and getting it published or meeting friends through the writing etc?

Any thoughts are helpful.

take care
Joanna

yeah I'd love to contribute. However I've never got together for a gathering yet, and don't exactly live in bristol or bath technically yet either (however I'm moving to Bristol shortly). Hit me up if you need me.

I might be up for it if I can overcome my natural reaction of "Oh my god I'm being asked questions! RUN AWAY!"

I've not attended the meetups, met anyone (in this country) taking part yet, or ever been published, but....

Hi Joanna

I'd be happy to share my thoughts and experiences, if you're interested. I'm a full-time writer and this is my first NaNoWrimo. I'm taking part as a way of forcing myself to sit down and write my first novel. Normally I write short stories so anything over 3,000 words is very scary.

I'm finding it fun, but it's challenging to work out the pacing on a longer work and just how much back story/twist info to reveal chapter by chapter. I'm also having to think much more about characterisation.

Cheers
Iain

I'd be happy to add my thoughts and wisdom (such as they are) to your article. From my own point of view, I now have a whole circle of friends which exists solely through Nanowrimo. I can't really comment on finishing a piece - although I've completed Nanowrimo 5 times so far, I've never actually completed any of the novels!

EDIT - I also completely forgot that I got my current job through Nanowrimo contacts...

Russ.

I'd be willing to be interviewed - I've been doing this since 2004, and I've completed it twice. One of those novels is worthy of revison, and when it's done I'll probably put it on the internet (too nervous to send it to an actual publisher). And I've certainly met lots of lovely people through NaNo.

When? Where? Are you keeping them secret from the rest of us? :P

I've be willing to be interviewed. I've done it twice (technically - I don't talk about 2006) and won both times, and I've gained a circle of close friends through NaNo.
