Does anybody else keep checkin on this site kinda deep down expecting their word count to be higher?
I always feel a little disappointed that it's not.
The writing fairies didn't visit last night...

Don't worry about your word count. Mine's low too, but honestly, you're word count isn't low at all. So don't be disappointed! Just keep writing and then you can make your word count go up. You'd be surprised how fast you can write 1,000 words.
Wouldn't it be nice though to have it just magically go higher as you write? Especially since this site is a little hard to get on during certain times of the day.

I'm reminded of the down side of looking at other people's word counts. I mean it's day 3 and some people are already over 15k. Like, really? (sigh)
And then I'm slowly building momentum to 1000.

Just remember, this is a contest against yourself, not against anyone else. There's no reward for most words or best novel. Just for reaching 50,000 words. Besides, the prize is a certificate, icon, and your draft. :-)
