I love to ask myself odd questions to try to get the feel for a character. for the
most part, my genre of choice is romance, so I usually do a "hero, and heroine."

Question of the day: I wonder what kind of underwear the guy has on?
The gal?

Hmmm...
or, another interesting thought today was, Let's jump 18 years in the future.
I think my characters might be parents, of teens. i wonder what kind of
parents they're going to make. Hmmmm...
food for thought.

Pick a color, any color, I've probably got it. I get the multi packs in colors. (Maybe not orange, but most other colors, anyway.) :-)

I can't say I've ever wondered about characters' underwear, but that's a good point. I'm up to a point where I am describing a very messy house, and underwear lying around would give it some...I dunno...realism? I'm getting lots of ideas just reading these forums - and the local and national news.

My FMC has found herself the mother of two teenagers. Something of which I have no direct experience, so I am sort of neglecting them, so far. I'll need to put some attention into their care and feeding, if I want a well-rounded book.

I have a great idea for you. How about What size is your underwear. You could have this really hot neighbor and you're embarrassed to hang your granny underwear on the clothesline in case he sees it. So you go out and buy sexy tiny colorful underwear and hang that on your line. Hey. Maybe I'll use that. I kind of like it. Thanks for the idea. hee hee
