This is my fourth year doing NaNo. One thing that I've discovered in my four years of NaNo is that the word count gets easier the more times you challenge yourself to fifty thousand words in thirty days. It's a familiar rythm that your body knows, that your fingers know as they type out each character, each word. It might be that my topic this year is just one that I know and can back up with research and that I really do know my topic after almost a year being interested in it.
Don't get discouraged when you looked around and see that some people's word counts are starting to go into the teens. Focus on your words. This the third day of NaNo and have a word count in the teens isn't really normal or sane for most people.
Relax and enjoy yourself. It will get easier just don't worry about anyone else.

The writing itself gets easier, no question. Life circumstances may not. I'm going to try to balance these two ends to catch up next week. Stay tuned . . .

I feel like I need to get the NaNo cheerleading squad out for you two MLs and everyone else that's under 10K.

I know, right? I think after this week is over I'll really be able to lay into it. Last week was insane (with a dash of brooding for good measure). This week is frantic (with a dash of insanity). After that, I'll get into Thanksgiving Laid Back mode at my office, and I'll have time to type at lunch.

At least that's the plan for this 7K girl. I've never been this far behind with a story in my head to tell!!!

Heh. No worries here. I'll be caught up by next Monday. I just have a deadline to meet tomorrow first.

Maybe I'll do a pep talk message before and after to give everyone else who's behind some encouragement.
