Whats your main Characters name and how did you decide on that?

Mine is Ana Fortuna, because Ana is a short name to type, and Fortuna because her future/destiny is unknown but fortunate, I hope.

My Main Character's name is Rachel Dace. I chose Rachel because I am basing her appearance on a friend I have named Rachel. I chose Dace, because I found on Wikipedia in the name Velma Dace Dinkley from Scooby Doo. I though Dace sounded interesting, and that is how I chose the name.

At this point, my MC has no name. I'm writing in the first-person, and to make things interesting (for me) one of my goals is to get to the end of the story without giving him a name (hey, it worked for Len Deighton ;) ).

Carter Pearson. The character is named after his grandfather, who was an archeologist, and that sounded archeologisty.

My main character's name is Fiona (no last name yet, hasn't been necessary). Since she is a somewhat oppressed personality (her entire family think there is something wrong with her for being a bibliophile and asexual), I tried to go with a name that could have derogatory shortenings as well as positive ones. So, her sister has a habit of shortening her name to Feeb, rather than Fee. As the story progresses though, she'll make a friend who will start out calling her Fee, and end up giving her the nickname Fay because both are names for "fairy" in Europe. Fiona means fair, which is a fair (hehe) description of her coloring. I have also seen it given the meaning of wine, which this being a vampire story, is highly ironic. ;-)

The other "main" character's name is Jasper, but he prefers Jack because Jasper is so "old fashioned" and no one is called Jasper any more. His name could be shortened to Jazz, but he simply prefers Jack because it sounds "normal."

But really, the names just came to me and then I looked for reasons why they might be appropriate or provide additional character development.

The Quiet One

A most atypical vampire novel. She's a book snob. He's a hundred year old horror movie buff. Currently they're discussing his mother's pickles.

Jim-Bob Drake. Jim-Bob because . . . well, he's that kind of guy. He is the stereotypical guy in a country song who's lost everything -- his wife, his house, his job, his dog. I don't know why I picked the last name, really, except that the single syllable seemed to work.

Then there's Chet, his dog, who is Chet because that's what Jim-Bob named him.

My main character's name is Harold Quinn. Later in the book he is going to be know by a code/nick name that was given to him by a french columnist. He is given the name "Harlequin". Don't think of the modern meaning of the name. Go back to the original name.

Gabe Maddox is a bright, sensitive 16-year-old high school student.

He also happens to be the angel of death, but hey.

Jack Morthman - I like the name Jack, it fits his personality. And I had to have the word 'mort' in his name which is French for death.

Hazel Rose - because the name is amazing.

Her name is Carrie. 'Care' for short.
Because it was well after midnight when I was creating my characters and that is all I remember from that night!

My MC is named Sariah because it sounds exquist and she's from the city. And my other MC in Jimmy because I couldn't think of a better name. Once I edit Jimmy will probably have changed names but will probably stick with something nice and simple because that's what he is, simple.
