Well, this is fun! :o)
My Mc was sooo raring to go that she's jumping all over the place! It's fun running after her, words just flow out. But all the jumping back and forth between different scenes is confusing me at the moment and making me wonder if I'm loosing the thread somewhat ( that I think is there somwhere) . I've noticed this is beginning to slow me down.
Any tricks to stay on track / keep track? I hardly dare reading what I've written so far, as, well, you know. My IE is dormant at the moment and I want to keep her that way...
Ah well, this is great fun anyway! My story seems to settle, too, in one genre ( or maybe two ) ...
Reached my word count for the day!! *happy dance*
Off to bed for an early start tomorrow :o)
See ya!

The first suggestion that springs to mind is don't stop writing.
The second is maybe keep a notepad and pen/pencil handy and mind map the different scenes. Erm, you know...
meets dodgy vampire
had lunch with mummy
gets hit by a bus
gets bitten by dodgy vampire
has interesting conversation with mummy's dog...
draw a circle around each scene and connect them with lines.
I do however admit, I am no expert and my suggestion is probably shoddy by comparison to what will come up.

I've yet to write a story in order... my writing is all over the place as characters demand attention or lead the story in different and often unexpected directions.
Often using the appropriate software can help... in yWriter, for example, you can easily start a new scene or new chapter whenever this happens, and it is really simple to move them around later when you have a chance.
I've taken a slightly different route this year... am writing using Q10, and each time there is a jump from location to location or character to character I just type in 3 asterisks (***) and continue writing with the new scene. If Character 1's story suddenly continues, I use the asterisks and make the continuation a new scene.
If using paper, I just start a new sheet, with a rather elaborate page-numbering system. Paper ain't working for me right now, though, because one of my favourite writing pens has gone into hiding.
Whichever method works for you, just keep writing and don't worry too much about flow, logic and coherence. That is what all the other months of the year are for :-)
Good luck!
And yes, I know that my wordcount is in a sorry state right now, but tomorrow is a long day with little planned... *evil grin*

Thank you, Tyger and Owl!!
Nice to know this is what's to be expected :o) and at least that means my characters are alive :o)
Mindmap -- now why didn't I think of that *slaps her forhead ( gently, so as not to make her braincells fry)*?
I mindmap alot in other situations! *gets a notepad*
Q10 -- I saw this program mentioned many times on this forum so I did download it at some point, but had yet to try it out, before 1.Nov appeared *note to self: play with Q10 and see how I like it*
Anybody else have this challenge??
Ok! Mission; keep on writing no matter what!!!
Good luck, folks!

You could also give each paragraph a number and when you done writing add "To do something go to paragraph ? or to do something else go to paragraph ?" to each paragraph :D
But write what comes up..even if it's all over the place. The point is you're writing and if your biggest problem is you bouncing all over a story you doing better than some.
Editing comes after Nano...get as much of that story down before you start worrying about coalating it

Thanks for the tip, Brabruski. Then I can at least trick myself to think I have structure :o) That'll soothe me.

Ah. Now that makes me feel better!!
Yeah, I wasn't planning on editing in any way .. I was just afraid of getting lost, like I did the first year. Rambling paragraphs that I could never tie together again in any way; tons of loose end stories. But when I think about it, this year I can *feel* there *might* be a purpose behind all this running around, ... so I guess I just need to keep on writing to find out :o) if I have an actual story hidden in all of this :o)
