It's Day Three, ladies and gentlemen - don't you dare give up. Yes, there are heavenly rewards for the faithful, but beyond that I'll have prizes for those who stick it out week to week. At our next Write-In on Monday the 9th, you'll be glad you kept pushing on.
Besides, this is a ridiculous and miraculous undertaking. The fact that you saw the 50,000-word challenge and dove in anyway is a sure sign of your intestinal fortitude. Clearly, all the best and most prolific writers live in Conway.I'm just proud to know all of you, to write beside you.
If you feel the Quit Monster sliding his claws in your general direction, please don't hesitate to run up a flag right here on the forum. PM every one of your buddies. Do not go silently into that good night,
We're here, we're ragged, and we're writing.

Ok. So I am new this year and already behind due to family circumstances, but I am burning the midnight oil on this one and will be caught up soon.
Don't give up on me yet.

Ugh. You said it, but I'm just so frustrated regardless. I have almost TOO much to write about. I know my whole story, the characters--inside and out. However, I have endless homework, people demanding my attention, noisy neighbors and roommates I keep bickering with, job issues, and a broken laptop--in short, almost no time at all. I don't know what to do at the moment.
Help, guys? I just need some peace. Where do you usually go to get some quiet, focused writing time? Got any cozy suggestions?

While it isn't extremely cozy, I do like to go to a study room in the local University's library. It's a small room where I can shut the door and pay attention to nothing but my computer.

So far so good here. I haven't really been able to add to my word count pad from Sunday but I have not yet fallen behind. I have even managed to keep my word pad from Sunday by managing to get in my 1667 words every day since. Let's hope I haven't jinxed myself now by typing this. Excuse me while I go knock on some wood....
Oh and I know it sounds wierd but I sometimes go get in my car if I need a quiet place to write. You can even drive somewhere like a local park and either stay in or get out if the weather is nice. It also suits as a nice change of venue to fire up the creative neurons.

I have actually gotten a good pad set up for me, with almost two extra days of work added. I just broke 9600 a few minutes ago, and I am still going strong.
As for where to write, it seems I thrive on the chaos of home. I just put on some Brian Setzer Orchestra or listen to some Rammstein to put myself in the mood, and if something happens, I just make note of it for later reference. It may sound weird, but that seems to be the way I work the best, so far.
Also, how do you guys go about avoiding the "Inner Editor," as it has been called? It has been starting to nag at me, but using my AlphaSmart Neo, I only see the last six lines of writing, so it has nothing to complain because it soon disappears from view.
Ignore the next two comments by me if they appear to be the same as this one. My computer got a little confused and posted three times.

Hello, everyone!
Little Rock guy here wanting to know what the Write-In is all about. Do we just bring our notebooks and write? Do we discuss problems/solutions/revelations? I'm a member of the Central Arkansas Speculative Fiction Group here in Little Rock and several of us are writing November novels. We're meeting at Barnes and Noble on Chenal (it's our regular bi-monthly SciFi club meeting), but I'm sure it'll be all about the writing!
I've only done short stories before, so this is an adventure for me. I've already learned that I need to put in downtime for my characters. They can't just go from frying pan to frying pan. I have outlined but am not chained to it (one of my frying pan chapters already got absorbed into another) and I've discarded one well-researched location already.
This editing thing is killing me, but I'm enjoying the competition of getting my number count higher and higher. I'm still trying to come up with a writing schedule. Starting at 10pm and stopping when I fall asleep doesn't seem to be working too well. Early mornings before work are right out, but I may have to at least try.
I hope you're all doing well, and I'm looking forward to standing in your autograph line some day.
Live long and prosper,
Tom

I use mine. I work in 20 minute blocks with a few minutes to rest in between. I'll hammer out 200 quick words, then over the nest two challenges go back and add in some of the detail I need. as an example, I'll have 200 of 'talking head' dialogue, little or no tags, no action, no descriptives. in the next 20 minutes, I'll deal with action and tags so I can tell who is doing and sayng what. In the third round I work on some description and detail. After all of that my 200 has doubled or more, plus it will only need a minor clean up and edit round before it's ready for the editor's desk.
I'm pretty focused on ending up with a sellable product, and being prolific enough to (hopefully) be a career author. I'm more focused on beng efficent with my writing time and cutting back on aggravating post-completion edits. I really hate those, so the cleaner my first round is, the better.
