Will be moving in on saturday to my new home in La Crescenta. Was just wondering if anybody is having any write-ins or know of a cool place to write at.
thanks

Hey there!
It's great to have more people in the region, and I hope you'll have a fun, exciting and productive NaNo. As far as write-ins, keep your eyes peeled for write-ins near you! If you don't see any scheduled, feel free to host one of your own, if you would like to try it out.
We are also trying to reach out to areas that don't have established write-ins. So if you would like to suggest a place to hold a write-in, go ahead on over to the "Travelling Write-Ins" thread, and post what's near you, or that you'd like a write-in in your area. I use that thread mostly for determining where to host the Travelling Write-Ins.
Can't wait to hear how your novelling goes, and hope to meet you at a write-in!

I'm originally from the La Crescenta area, and although I live in Burbank now, several of my friends and I meet up pretty regularly for coffee at the Coffee Bean & Tea Leaf in Montrose - on the corner of Ocean View and Honolulu. There is a lot of space inside and quite a few tables outside, too. It's a pretty popular spot, though. I would recommend trying to go earlier in the evening, especially on Fridays. Beyond that, your best bet would be finding your favorite Starbucks. La Crescenta is a great town, but in terms of writing spots, it doesn't offer much! :-) Let me know if I can recommend anything else in the area - you can add me as a buddy if you want to make it easier to find me.
One other place if you like to sit outside - there is a bakery on Ocean View, about four blocks south of Honolulu. It's called Berolina's, and they have great coffee, pastries and a number of little tables outside where you can park yourself for a couple of hours...

I actually work over in La Canada and visit Montrose quite often and LizaP17 is totally right! For being the quaint little area that it is, you'd think it would offer more amazing writer-friendly cafes and coffee houses (or at least ones that are more obvious to those of us who aren't completely "in the know" about the area).
The main drag of Montrose on Honolulu has quite a few places that have outdoor seating if you like that sort of thing. Otherwise, there's the Coffee Bean that's been mentioned as well as quite a few Starbucks locations in La Crescenta/Montrose/La Canada that have some nice seating (There's one over by the UA theater here that's a bit under a freeway overpass. It sounds strange but I see people in their outdoor area all the time!)
The only other place I can think of is Zeli's in La Canada on Foothill which is a little hard to find (it's in the same stripmall area as a Vons). While I haven't actually gotten a chance to sit and write there I always thought the atmosphere would be nice to do so in. :)
