It seems it's a bit late to be posting this, since a few of you have already passed 10K words, but it might be helpful and encouraging for the rest of us stragglers.

Let us know when you hit 10,000 words.

woo hoo! @ 12530 tonight. ready to start introducing new characters... need suggestions for a wide variety of cast members... so far I've been told to introduce a plumber, a super model, and an old person with a penchant for nude sunbathing (agh!).

Hey RockStarLizzy how about introducing a ex-KGB superspy who has an unusual hobby (can't take sock puppets, that's mine.=)) How about collecting random women's hair scrunchies and he uses his ex-KGB superspy skill to take them off of women at random intervals but always fails.)

I just hit 10K a few minutes ago! It's very exciting, especially for my first time... I really had no idea how this would go. I'm glad I decided to write the whole thing by hand, since I can't use my beloved delete key! I doubt I would have made it this far.

As for character ideas... I'm realizing most of my mine are rough renditions of Disney characters. I think my main villain is actually Gaston incarnated onto another planet. So, to make me feel better, you could pick some great Disney villain (like Maleficent) and weave them in as part of your universe. *shrug*

Wow, good for you! Congratulations!

Don't worry about your characters or your plot or anything. This month is for proving to yourself that you are capable of writing a full-length novel. You can make it a pretty one later.

At 11:59 I quickly typed in my word count of 10,044 and hit 'update' and SUCCESS! I HAVE REACHED 10,000!!! I certainly didn't make it early, and I barely made it on schedule, but dang it I made it. Now if you'll excuse me, I have to go beg forgiveness of my fingers.

Finally reached 10,000 this morning after being up till 2:30 last night struggling with parallel universes.
Speaking of which, Katrina...? your meter says you have 190,000 words. You'd have to be in a parallel universe. Are you there? I put up an excerpt on the site this am too.

Just for the record, I have not yet reached 10K... so this is not a shout, its more like a whisper...

I could be writing words in my novel instead of here... But I am not... Can anyone explain why?

:P

I finally made a breakthrough in my novel and crossed 10k!

I've only been managing 1k a day, but today I have managed 1600.

Been a crazy weekend. Went to Seattle on Friday and stayed until Monday morning. Went to a coffee shop with my friend on Sunday and got hot chocolate and got in a couple hours of writing, then on Monday, on the way home (friend drove me on her way to work), I wrote for about an hour of the 2-hour car ride. Kinda fun writing in different locations and such :D

Now, to get to 15k and start to catch up!

I finally did it! Should be up to almost 20K right now, but since I didn't write for so many days I'm way behind. I guess I'll quit using all those contractions...

Catching up is totally possible, Reggie. You can do it!

I recommend Word Wars (in the Forums) and Dr. Wicked's Write or Die.

I almost forgot about Dr. Wicked! He's wonderful! I put a link to him on our regional info page.
