I am curious what all of you are writing about. Want to share some stuff?

My own story is about Sam who is 42 and just found out he was adopted. So far I have written 5000 words on how he misses his parents that just passed away in cancer, both within a short while. And now he is at their house, his childhood home, cleaning up, grieving, and boxing things up to put it on the market. He finds a shoe box with a photo of a young pregnant woman. She looks like a young female version of himself. He is terrified, confused, angry and curious (I will have to "show" not "tell" in Dec. during re-write ;-) !!.

Later he will want to find her.

His biological mom is Stella. She will not want to open up to her "new" son. And she will not want to help him find his biological father.

sounds like you've got a good start!

My story is about Teague McMurtry, young man newly out of the Army, working at landscaping & going to college on-line. He gets caught up in something strange completely by accident. Also by accident, he meets Vivica Rambo (Yes, it's a real name, I'm realated to one) Teague doesn't know it, but her eldest brother is involved in some pretty shady things. Randy won't hesitate to kill anyone, including his sister. It keeps getting curiouser and curiouser. Now Teague finds himself the center of a conspiracy

Those are pretty interesting stories. I'm writing about a guy named Chris who has found himself in some very identifiable circumstances in life. The whole story takes place over one evening, really, as he reflects on all of the events that have led up to his present circumstances. It's called "The Light Side of the Dark" and the teaser is, "Just because you see nothing but darkness doesn't mean there is no light. You may only be seeing the shadow of circumstances." It's been very easy to write so far, and I'm up to about 10,700 words.

Cool stuff people.

My story is about two pirates name Eldred Thorn and Angel Thorn, they are twins (Angel is a girl.) Eldred is about to be hung when he breaks out and gets away. Angel was his first mate but she sold him and the crew out. After escaping the government forces Angel to capture him. The story goes back and forth from Eldred running to Angel chasing. There will be some major twists and some chaotic stuff.

I'm elaborating on a short story I wrote about a year and a half ago, which concerned a lower-class black man in the South who had been accused of attacking a white girl, the daughter of the local sheriff. It was the first thing I'd ever attempted in 1st person, and took the reader up until he was being led out by a mob, presumably to be lynched. It was also totally out of character for me, a decidedly middle-class white guy! I have no idea where the voice came from, but I 'heard' it so clearly that I just had to write it down.

In a curious twist of fate, a writer I met through NaNoWriMo 2007 had also been mulling over a female black character, whom she 'heard' just as clearly. We decided to combine our characters into a different kind of story, and it has been magical. For this NaNo we're each writing our own character's POVs and co-writing the other character's in 3rd person, then we'll combine them all into, hopefully, an entertaining book and provocative book. Our story is killer!
