According to Nano guidelines, we should be doing 1,667 words per day in order to make the 50k in 30 days.

Simply put, are you over or under this pace?

Inquiring minds want to know.

I'm a little over that right now.

But I've been writing pretty suspenseful scenes everyday. I get caught up and can't stop sometimes.

I'm ... around that pace. I'll tend to overwrite one day so I can take the next off. For example, I vomited up about 5100 words yesterday, which got me caught up until tomorrow, and I didn't have to write today. And here is where I say "I should write anyway" to get even MORE caught up for the days (*cough*Thanksgiving*cough*) I won't be writing, but ...

i am above. half just incase there comes a day that i cant think and my brain explodes, so i wont fall behind.
the other half, so i can hopefully be able to resolve the story, as it is looking like it is going to take a bit more than 50,000 to accuratly tell.

I'm over that! I've done 2,000 words a day the past two years and finished right about on time, but this year I'm getting a little more into it and trying to do 2-3k a day and more if I feel like it. I had a 4k night last night, and expect/hope to have more evenings like that if at all possible.

I don't think there's anything wrong with sticking to the 1,667 words a day formula at all--especially for new people, it helps to keep things a bit lighter and less insane. I just personally can't help getting excited about watching my wordcount go up, up, and up! (Especially on the graph. Watching that graph makes me giddy!)

I has a spreadsheet.

Here are the final totals for the first four days:

11/1: 4158
11/2: 1406
11/3: 338
11/4: 5127

I'm shooting on trying to keep a couple days ahead because I know Monday and Tuesday are going to be slow days between work and school, and I'm trying to lighten the load a bit. Also, I know the second half of the month is going to be insane, so the closer I am to 50k at mid-month, the better.

(Although, I have to admit, the 1416.9% change between 11/3 and 11/4 amuses me something fierce.)

I'm currently behind by about a day and a half worth, but I've got a nasty cold, so I suppose it works as an excuse.

I like to try for anywhere between 1667 and 2k, usually end up closer to the former than the later. I'm currently over by about 400 words, I think (today doesn't count 'cause it's 2 in the morning, I'm using yesterday's numbers and my count as of midnight). I try not to binge-write because when I do the next time I sit down I find I"m all tapped out and don't know how to continue. So I'll make myself stop if it's getting juicy and save that momentum for the next day.

I'm over it...and loving it.

I just hope that writer's block and/or my Hubby don't derail me.

so far so good =) I'm shooting for about 2K every day and sometimes I come in over and sometimes I come in a little under, but from what I have read I'm pretty average in that respect. Last night I discovered the joy that is the word war. I did almost 3K last night wewt! good luck to you all.

Every year I try to write more than I did the year before, just too competitive even against myself.

This year, I want to write at least 2500 a day, though some days will be much bigger than that, I hope.

I'm doing good so far. Still have scenes in my head that need to get in the novel so all's good.

I bounce back and forth like a pogo ball. Will write a few days' worth ahead, then not be able to write for a few days and use that up, then shoot ahead again, repeat, repeat, repeat.

Behind today because I haven't been able to write except on lunch hours pretty much all week, I am hoping to at least catch up or shoot ahead again by Friday's write-in.

Over! For now, at least. Before I was about on pace, but for the last couple days I've been doing 3,000 a day, and probably more on the weekend! Gotta beat the finns!

The 1,667 words per day pace might get you into trouble if you celebrate Thanksgiving or have other all-day committments.

This is an even bigger concern given our mission as word warriers. Finland has no more holidays in November after All Saints day, which has already passed. If you don't plan for Thanksgiving, youimay get caught in a bind at the end of the month.

I recommend looking at the calendar, counting the days you'll be able to write a lot, and dividing 50,000 by that count.

For example,in my case,

50,000 words
divided by
26 unencumbered days to write
yields

1,923 words need per day I am available to write.

I think I'm at about that right now. I haven't written anything yet today, my brain needs caffiene and a nice long walk before I can even try to put words to paper, but I'm aiming for 2,000-4,000 today. If my characters cooperate. lol.

I've never been able to stick to a 1667-a-day pace; I tend to work well for a few days and then get distracted by something shiny, then do a few big days to get caught up, then get distracted, and then finally crash over the finish line a little bit before midnight on the last day. I really admire people who can work consistently and sanely but I haven't been able to pull it off yet.

Aiming for 3k today, amidst dozens of other chores around the house and for the magazine. I'll still be woefully behind, but with momentum.

LET'S DO IT.

i am about to do a half hour timed sprint with some people on a little group I am on. I am ahead of schedule and then went out of town for a few days, so I'm hoping this gets my words flowing again!

Going online to Facebook and challenging Bebe seems to work pretty well. She is very good at getting me to bang out about 1,500 words in an hour. It really helps to take a couple days and really kick out the jams, double or even triple the daily recommended word count, so that if something comes up and keeps you away from the keyboard for a day or so, you don't fall behind.

I'm falling under, but I'm also going for a custom schedule :D

I have 1 day / week where I don't have time to breathe much, and less to write more, so my daily target is closer to 2000. I should be at 20K today, but I'm only at 13K so, just a might behind :)

Hey, what else are weekends for, right?

I tend to only be able to write 1-2 days per week, so I try to write 2k-5k words on those days, and I'm lucky if I get 500 words on other days of the week.
