Hello Blood~ I think you sat next to me in the Uvic writing meet up. I didn't really speak with you though and I am sorry for my shiness. As I have said my schedule is typically 100% open. What days were you thinking of and what times?

I am currently available (looks at clock) anytime Today i guess as it is thursday now, after about noon, and anytime friday.

I don't have my schedule yet for next week and as such unable to give any farther notice on availability.

As for sitting beside me, that is a possibility. I can say at that moment when I was writing, talking to me would have been difficult as I had my headphones on. The room seemed to be one of absolute silence when I showed up, and lasted that way till about 7ish I believe. I will admit I was surprised at how quiet we all were as a whole.

If you were the guy yawning hehehe, then it was definitely you. I actually added the yawning into my story if you don't mind. I was fairly focused on a few plot elements as I was reaching the first majour climax of the story and ended up having to leave early to pick up my medicine~ I am free as well, but inspite of living here for two years I know very little about the town and good locations.

haha, Yea, I was the guy yawning. Was still recovering from my sunday into monday with 4 hours of sleep, and only had around 5ish hours going into tuesday. Also I don't mind the yawning, considering I'm stealing personalities of alot of people i know for my characters in my book haha.

For places around town, it totally depends what your into. If its just to sit down and work, finding a quiet coffeeshop downtown is most likely ideal, or if its to hang out and talk I prefer pubs, but others prefer small restaurants or the like.

If your basically into just relaxing, just choose a general type atmosphere your looking for, and we can start from there.

Hmm, not too noisy, but a place where working could be possible and so too could talking. However, I being poor have but my notebook so somewhere cheap is prefered~ Is this enough information if not I could say more. Some place warm! That is a must.

Hehe, I like taking characters from people, I had a project like that in writing school that was quite interesting. We took two people from our class and wrote stories using their characteristics in our characters. It was quite fun.

Also your yawning made me yawn XD. Your hours seem really severe I hope you can rest well tonight~

With that information

Any small restaurant 2-3pm works, as does almost any coffeeshop at that time.

I believe you have said your near the hillside area, So I shall look at places in that neighbourhood that would fit the criteria.

First two places that come to mind that my limited knowledge of coffeshops go would be yates and quadra area for a starbucks,

However, my first recommendation purely for aesthetic value would be the starbucks within chapters on douglas near douglas and fort.

Both should be relatively easy to get to. The first i would guess would be less busy since its not located beside the bay center/in a bookstore, but whatever your more comfortable with is the aim.

As for restaurants, I'm not sure how many would appreciate people just sitting there taking up space without making a hike closer to the mayfair region to go to dennys.

Dennys I do know could care less how long people stay, and I would say hopefully quiet mid afternoon.

Hehe, you gave me a bit of options. Hmm, I don't mind the starbucks at chapters, but there are on occasions were noisy people gather and talk loudly. The starbucks on yates is a bit open air and would make me feel like people were staring. Dennys... I haven't been to a Dennys in a long time lol. However, I don't know where it is at all. I'm sorry to be such a bother. We could meet in one place than go to another? Perhaps the starbucks in chapters isn't so loud in the afternoon?

*Edit- here I will e-mail you thats faster*

I may come out to somewhere to write after 4:30. I was planning to write here at work (Serious Coffee in James bay) cuz it's pretty quiet in the evenings and I get cheap drinks lol. But sometimes just knowing that OMG OTHER PEOPLE ARE WRITING MORE THAN ME is enough for me to actually you know...write.

....I am kind of competitive I guess....

I can't meet anywhere today, myself, but aside from that, I'm amazed no one has mentioned The Black Stilt. Its a writer's environment, and does have poetry nights (readings and such), but just Fridays. Its across from Hillside mall

here's info on the coffee house:

http://www.theblackstilt.com/index.html

Here's a map:

And here's a map to the second (Fort St) location (I've never been there, so I don't know anything about it. The Hillside one is their main location):

Interesting suggestion.

I haven't been there before but definitely a good idea of venue.

The Black Stilt is where we used to meet - not last year but the year before that, and maybe the year before that as well? I can't remember.

We kind of outgrew it as at one point we had over 30 people attending and we ran out of room. Plus I think they were a bit annoyed with us coming for a few hours and ordering only a coffee each (and some people would not buy anything at all).

It was nice, but kind of hard to hear everyone and is often very crowded.

If you can believe it, when I started in 2005, we held our meetings at Solstice Cafe and there was only 8-10 of us.

Thank you for all the information. I am really unaware of all the great places writing could be done so it's always nice to hear where other people have discovered. I wish I could contribute more.

We used the Stilt a couple of years back. It was very nice, but we had too many people for a Sunday at the start and no reserved table or two. Very nice place, though.

And yeah, pretty much free today as well.

Just going to throw out what has basically been decided via emails last night as only Ira and myself seemed to be alive that late.

General plan is to meet at dennys 1ish for a late lunch then depending on business level stay there or relocate to another location.

If anyone wants to get together as well,

250-514-0497 is my cell, and I will have it on me the entire time.

I will be wearing a hoodie much like that one, and will be outside dennys roughly 10-15 minutes before.

As well as having my cellphone, see you two in an hourish
