With Thanksgiving being about 20 days away, it has been on my mind constantly. I am excited about Thanksgiving because each year I get up early, bake a ton of food in the morning, than we head to hubby's parents house for our first Thanksgiving meal around noon, then around 2 or 3 we head to my folks house for yet another meal (we eat light at both meals, but it's fun to have so much variety of food in one day and see so many people!). After that we'll hang out at my folks for an hour or so after we've eaten and then we head back to his folks house to play video games with his brothers and board games with our neices! And any other game or movie anyone else wants to play/watch.
It's a lot of fun, but I am nervous about keeping up with the writing.
Those of you who have been participating in NaNoWriMo for previous years, how do you do it?
I am hoping I can get a lot of writing done before Thanksgiving so I don' thave to spend as much time on the computer while family is done, but I am not sure if I'll be able to. The hard part is, everyone comes Wed and they don't leave until Sunday night. And staying up late isn't an option because that weekend is a weekend of staying up until 2-4am playing video games...maybe I can go to bed early and wake up early....but then again, early morning hours I'll have the kids climbing on me....
I guess I'll figure it out when it gets here, lol!

I basically spend all of Thanksgiving writing, it's a really good day to catch up. My family is all in town, so we just meet for dinner on Thursday night. I usually sit for the meal and then get up and go write more after I'm finished before heading to bed.

I've only done Nano once before - and had to stop to work on book edits - but I do write as one of my careers. We travel for all major holidays, since no family live close. Every day, I slip off for at least 30 minutes of writing. I may have to endure questions about how the writing is going, STILL writing comments, or what am I writing, but I just smile and get back in the groove of family time. (I don't talk about my writing with anyone while I'm writing, so I don't lose my momentum.)

If you take a little time each day, you'll enjoy your holidays more because you won't be wishing you could get into your story or begrudging the time you're away from the story. All the best!!

I never really thought about that but you are right that it would be good to at least take some time to write so it's not bugging me all day! Usually (even though we live so close to his family) we stay the weekend at their house since his brothers come to town for Thanksgiving with their wives and kids, and the guys like to stay up so late playing video games but my husband and I have decided that this year we will drive back home each night. So that should give me time each morning to write before we head over :) Plus, my husband suggest I bring headphones over to his folks house when we go because if I want to write while I'm there, I could plug them into the computer and zone out to music as I type and forget about the crazy kids running around, lol, so I may try that too :)

So neat that your husband is encouraging you! Give him an extra hug!
And have fun with the writing and the family.
