So this being my first Nano I'm really hoping to make some time to attend some write-ins. My only concern is that my laptop battery is fried and doesn't hold a charge anymore, so I need a power outlet in order to turn it on. This is going to probably sound pretty dumb, cause I feel dumb for not noticing before, but at places that the write-ins are going to be (like the one coming up on sunday, at Tim Horton's off Vic) are there outlets on the wall that are available for the leeching? Cause honestly I'd much rather bring my laptop along if I can actually plug it in, than bring paper and a pen and cramp up my hand. Not to mention I can type faster than I can write!

Yes there are power outlets at tim hortons. I have a power bar as well, so there should be no shortage of power for laptops.

And my laptop runs for 8 hours on full charge (if I turn off the wireless - seriously, if you wanna save powerz on your computer and don't need the internet, just physically turn the wireless adapter off. Just disconnecting from the internets doesn't really save any energy, though) so there's moar outlet spots available, XD

Also, I totally remembered that there was a write in on Tuesday... at 11 PM on Tuesday. GUH I suck.

I am now scheduling in the write ins in my agenda so I do not forget again. >:3

Awesome. That means I don't really have an excuse not to come now, haha.

Your suggestions are all well and good, Aethre, but it doesn't really help me much now that my battery won't hold a charge at all. :( It only ever held a charge for around 2 hours. Though if I ever get my hands on another battery that works, I'll have to keep that in mind though :D

Yeah, that was a general comment directed to the universe, XD I know how you feel about the dead battery thing - my 3 year old HP's batter has completely croaked. Fortunately, I never have to use that computer.

Yeah I figured it was probably just directed at nobody in particular, it's just too bad I'd never thought of doing that when my battery did work to begin with :( lol.

The battery that died on me also was from an HP laptop o: How coincidental.

My HP's battery doesn't like me either. But that's what power chords are for :) It's really lucky we have a great ML who'll take care of us and bring her power bar :D

I wish I could go to write-ins. I'm underage and my parents would never let me. Let alone that I don't have a portable computer. xD

I for sure will though in the future! Assuming that NaNoWriMo is still happening 2-3 years from now.

Nano has been going on for quite a while, I would assume it would still be going strong in three years. :)

As the resident CS person... Hey! Music person! Wrong 'cords'!

XP

Yeah, nano will be running for quite some time in the futures. I, for one, am not giving this up!

Bestill my wonkily beating heart! I can finally come to some write-ins.... with my notebook because my computer is dying but I can still go.

I've been working during most of them this year. *sigh* But I hope to see people on Sunday! :)

I win, that's all. I generally only deal with chords, so "cords" just looks wrong to me :P
And by the way, resident CS ... how come I keep beating you at typing?

Because I'm thinking and typing at the same time, unlike some?
