The GBS is a large facility surrounded by a forest. Young adults labeled as 'freaks' or 'dangerous' by the rest of society because of their unusual attributes find refuge within its walls... though as we saw last year, the school walls can only provide you with so much protection...

((OK Star, nothing much has happened with Marie, Hope, Oliver, and Jenny since you left. Jenny is refusing to talk to/look at Marie, Oliver is eating and feeling awkward, Marie is sulking, and Hope is still talking to her. I think that's it. AND now I have to go to class))

"I just hope it's soon," Marie said. "Because I don't want to be a bother to anyone. Besides, if I'm allowed to become a janitor again, wouldn't it be awkward for you to share a room with a staff member?"

"No," Hope said simply. She smiled at Marie as she picked through her food. "You are not so much older than me. Perhaps we are more alike than you know."

"Oh?" asked Marie. She sounded polite, but in her head, she was wondering what she could have in common with a person who's race was an accomplice to the closest thing the world had yet experienced to Armageddon.

"You haven't heard about the war?" asked Marie. "I'm surprised! I thought everyone knew about it. How a little spat over an Israeli attack on an Iranian nuclear power plant because it was producing bomb materials turned into a titanic struggle between between NATO lead by the old United States of America against the Eastern Allaince lead by the old Russian Federation; that culminated in the unrestricted use of tactical nuclear weapons and the limited use of strategic ones after the Indians were hit by a nuclear missile launched by the Pakistani Taliban and blamed the attack on the legitamate Pakistani government which they believed acted with NATO's permission."

"I was a bit sheltered," Hope said in a small voice. the truth was her parents tried to keep her away from such things as much as possible. They tried to keep her ability secret for fear that the government somewhere would come for her and make a lab rat out of her in an attempt to replicate her ability. "That does sound terrible though."

"Tell me about it," Marie sighed. "The city where I live was hit by a Russian missile. There were more empty houses than there were inhabited ones. I don't know why the Russians chose to nuke us. They were already doing a good job with their cruise missiles and conventional explosives. Anyway, that's how I lost my parents - my dad was contaminated by radiation and died before I was born, and my mother died of radiation induced cancer when I was three."

Laina reluctantly loosened her hand. "I can't help it," she said. She instinctively stiffened as he came towards her. Loosen up... She told herself silently. She relaxed again; slowly, but she managed.

"That sucks," Oliver said, then flushed. Honestly, it sounded like he was trying to be flippant about it or something. How was he going to not be awkward around Marie like this?
Jenny sniffed and said nothing.

((Okay, so, what's happened (I'm talking about since the very beginning here, I was going to print the last thread out so I could read it during lunch and get caught up, but my mom wouldn't let me, she took a look at how long it would be and deemed it a 'waste' of black ink, even though it wouldn't be black, I'm out of black ink)/is going on? I haven't been on since my last post, and well, I didn't read anything before that, since I figured as long as I skimmed so I knew what was going on in terms of whether or not there was a lovkdown going on or what, I've been busy working on my nanovel, so, yeah..., I probably won't post until I reach 50000 which well be in about, 10/15/30 minutes or so.))

((Okay wow, sorry for the fail. Life got its claws into me, so sorry about being MIA like that))
Lyddie sighed and pressedher cheek against Adrian's head, stomach rumbling. She had already eaten a full meal, which for her was about fourtimes that of a normal person's, and she was still hungry. Adrian mewled and butted against her face, but mentally berated her.
Honestly Lyddie! he chided. You have to be more aware of your bodiy's needs! Who cares about what the other students 'might think'; just tell them about your powers and they won't bother you about it, if they even would in the first place.

"My parents died protecting me," Hope told Marie, giving Oliver a small smile to say she understood. "We were always moving so no one would discover my ability and one day we were on a train, moving again. I did not know if my ability at the time, but when the train wrecked and I was the only survivor, having come out without a scratch on me... My aunt took me in after that."

"i was fortunate," Hope agreed. "You just need the same. You need someone to help you. To support you through tough times until you get on your feet again. My aunt has sold her life away to see that I attend this school. I am trying to get her to come to the United States but she is stubborn." She smiled endearingly.

"Sisters?" asked Marie. She chuckled a bit. "I knew someone who I was kind of sisters with. Her name was Racheal. She was old enough to be my mother. She fought in Europe against the Russians. Her younger sister was about my age when Racheal went off to war. I think the Eastern Alliance artillery nearly drove Racheal insane. She was from Los Angeles. A Russian nuclear bomb landed there and killed her family, and when Racheal came home after the war and found out, what was left of her sanity just snapped. Sometimes she was lucid. Sometimes, she thought she was a teenager again and I was her sister. Sometimes - well - if you've ever read 'Rambo' or seen the movie... Yeah..."
