You are all great, studying for qualifications, working full time, or working three part-time jobs to get by, AND doing NaNoWriMo! I admire you all.

Whatever you think when your novel begins to feel like a sludge monster, dragging its flat feet through deep mud, and trailing it's nuckles behind it, the time will come when your words will find their way to be free and will launch themselves from the chest of the beast, spring off the highest branch of that tall tree and bounce into the novelverse to live off radiant dust motes and dance in constellations. You can do it!

Even if it doesn't work out for you this year - you still have NaNoWriMo. I have waited 58 years to find an opportunity like NaNo, and I am realizing that for all the writing I have ever done, I have never had the discipline or the deadline that NaNo is giving me. I am just hoping it is not too late. I am creative, but I carry the burden of my perfectionist soul like a couple of drag anchors around my writing heart. Even creativity needs to be worked at, and I feel I am at last beginning to learn my craft through the soft-soled boot of NaNo in my ancient butt.

Don't use that word failure. Maybe this month, this year, is not your time, but it just might be. Hang in there. You will find a way, and your words will find a way out. Go for it.

Pardon me for being cheeky, but it looks like somebody found their young-at-heart side :D

I had a deeply spiritual and moving experience today. In my own region, I discovered that there is a place for the kind of fiction I read and write, and there are people who are actually interested in it. Thus on my region's IRC, I pledged my life to a yearly pilgrimage of nanowrimo.
