I love them, I really do. But please, let me write when i can as I can. I don't know when the muse is going to stand up and try to get out of my fingers, so just let me write. I understand that knowing which shoes go with which outfit may be important to you, but let me write. (Just an example... really)

-off her soapbox-

just a small vent.. thank you

What do you mean by "well meaning friends?" Do you mean those that offer advice without knowing what the act of writing is like? Do you mean those that are critical of your writing? Or do you mean those that want more of the time you have devoted to writing?

-laughs- I mean those whom when they call feel that they can continue to eat at your time you have dedicated to novel writing. They are well meaning because they ask all the appropriate conciliatory questions, paying no mind that you only want to hang up on them to write. As I said, a small vent...

I know what you're talking about. I think that they really have no idea just what they are interrupting, and that makes it even more easy to interrupt. Then when you finally draw the line, they think you're a jerk.

Why not silence your phone and pick a time during a break to return urgent calls? No one says that we have to be accessible all the time. My problem is not usually the interruption. My problem is that there is something in me that secretly wants them to call, so that part of me that is crazy scared of writing will take over until it's too late to write anything. See, right now, I'm posting this to you ... you know ... instead of doing what I should be doing.

Anyway, good luck. Be strong. Silence (cell-wise) is golden.

Hee, my friends are trying to make me be (gasp) social during NaNo. NaNo is for writing. Social time is for December.
