Yes, the ugly truth is revealed. It's 12:24 a.m. on Friday the 6th and I have not written a single, solitary word. Is it too late for me to catch up? Do I have anything worth saying? This is the 2nd time I've signed up and chickened out.

Anyone else in this predicament? I wouldn't blame you if you wouldn't wanna admit it.

Don't give up! There is always hope! This weekend try to spend as much of your time writing as you can( I'm giving myself at least four hours tomorrow) and then after that DON'T miss a day, that way you should be able to catch up quite easily. My advice to you is find out where your free time is and actually use it to write. If you don't have any get up earlier.

You.Can.Do.This.

It's not too late to catch up. The trick is to lower your standards. I started cold on 11/2 and immediately began processing any random thought on the word processor. The way I see it, by the time I'm done my novel might be about writing a novel, and I'll have first-hand source material waiting to be used. Of course, plan A is to delete all that crap during editing... but if it gets me to 50,000 before I run out of time, it's good enough. :D

See, and there's another 60 or 70 words I could have put in my text... ;-)

It's never too late! (Okay, 7:30PM on November 30th might be too late. But this is not!)

What have you got to be afraid of? The only thing that could happen by writing that isn't happening now...is that you could win.

Personally, I vote you start your novel with "Boof". Because it sounds funny.

Yes, you can do it. I started late the first year I did NaNo and I made it. I was clueless. No outline, no plan, no characters, nothing. And it worked anyway.

Go for it. We're here to cheer you on.

It gives me hope for catching up, I am way behind. Getting sick in November is a real killjoy.

Without plot. Characters. All of that stuff.

I'm beating a couple of my friends horribly now, and they started on the first day. YOU CAN DO EEEET! :D

My first year, I didn't start until November 13. No joke.

Spent every waking moment that I wasn't in class writing. Lost three days during Thanksgiving because I just didn't have the time.

I still finished the month out with around 38k words, and could have made it to 50k if I hadn't lost those three days.

You've got pleanty of time! :D

I started out with a bang, and then slowed down. and am wayyyy behind where I'd like to be. SO did my girlfriend, But in the end tonight I did 2000 words in an hour. Just keep at It and never give in !

Btw. I don't know if forwards count, but if it comes down to it at the end, I'm writing my thanks to all those youngins who believed in me.

Is if evil of me to enjoy seeing people who are further behind than I am? I didn't start until the 5th and am completely daunted. I had a few character notes. I have no outline. I have no plot. But I figured what the hell, let's see how far I can get anyway. So keep going, you're not at all alone. :)

Go lady! You can so do this! Just keep adding those words. Remember 100 more words is 100 nearer to the goal :)

I've seen people who'd already reached 50 000 words by the third day, so catching up is definitely not impossible! Just write a little bit extra every day, and you'll be caught up in no time!

I'm in the same boat, just started today. At first I was very worried, but now that I've at least got past the dreaded beginning I feel a lot more comfortable. As long as you keep confidence in what you're doing, things should start to go your way.

Thank goodness for you! I'm just starting today (now) - so my word count is exactly zero and I don't even have a plot. I'm hoping to think of a plot tonight and spend the rest of the month playing catch-up.

I think we can do it!
