My word count is leveling off. What do I do? I'm at the interesting part and I can't find it in me to keep going. I mean, I sort of can, but... My math is not the greatest, but I think I did 904 words today. That's 700 short. I mean, that's why I went ahead so far the last few days, but if the trend continues (with me it often does), I'm not going to finish.

Is this terrible? Unfixable? Do I still stand a chance? I mean, I AM ahead (or was when I last checked), so I guess there's little reason to panic... but... it's not like I'm FAR ahead, exactly.

I just finished, at 40k. I'll be adding a prologue.

This is exactly - EXACTLY - where I am.

The first couple days were really high-powered, and I was like, this is a piece of cake! It's so fun!

And now...it's not like writer's block. It's just...the document is right there, but I can't really be bothered to go write. And when I do, I stay for about 400 words, at most. Maybe the speedy wordcount gave me a false sense of security, but I think it's just pure laziness.

I think the answer is to just power through. Get off my ass. Focus.

Eventually...

What's helping me hit my quotas, of all things, is Facebook.

When I get up, I change my status to a big, fat 0/1750 or 0/2625, depending on whether it's a weekday or weekend. As I check my word count, I update my status. If I miss my quota for the day, most everyone I know is going to see it, so except for the November 1, I've hit my quota every single day. Where I was tempted to stop a little early, thinking about failing so publicly drove me to push out another couple of paragraphs to round out my goal.

I haven't had any burnouts far from my daily goal, but when you're near the end, it's just so much easier to finish than have a widely broadcast miss.

I'm using Twitter:

twitter.com/motivprocrast
www.motivatedprocrastinator.wordpress.com

I'm using both as a way to keep me motivated and excited. I have also challenged one other nanowrimo person inadvertenly. Get a buddy. Don't give up and if you need daily motivation. Visit my blog. I'm trying to help all nanowrimos. I hope that helps. This is my first time and I'm petering out on the word count but I found that all three of the above have helped because they help me stay accountable. ;)

The only thing that is keeping me up with my daily wordcount goal is competing senselessly with the four people on my buddy list. And my e-buddy passed me, and my brother is about five-hundred words from passing me. :(
