I noticed in another thread that the idea of a chat has been thrown about, but not much has been done with the idea. Would this be something everyone wants? And if so, where should we hold it, and when? It won't be too difficult to set up a chat in IRC or on AIM or something. Tinychat was even suggested as a possibility. What would everyone be comfortable with using?

Maybe you'll find a way to hold me
Come back and sing a melody to me
Maybe we're just lost at sea
Maybe I'm holding on to driftwood
And I'll be alright if you could
Sing to me"

That sounds like a great idea. We may be able to hold more ad hoc meetings, or just get together for some inspiration. I write a lot of non-fiction, so sometimes turning the tap is difficult.

If you have difficulty setting one up, let me know and I can see about putting a chat room on one of my sites.

Cheers ....

I'm hoping for a little bit more feedback first, though, based on the questions I raised in my first post. Namely, what everyone would be comfortable with using. Does everyone have AIM? Does everyone just want a java client to log into? Etc.

This was posted in the Vernon First thread. I don't know why she didn't also post it in the thread you linked to.

Hi, just wanted to toss out a reply about the whole ML thing.

Elenya was our Ml, but she apparently didn't tell anyone she's not doing it this year, and the powers that be told me when I nanomailed htem that unfortunately it's too late to add a new ML. Deadlines and all.. hehee.

Anyway, the good news is that there still is a BC chatroom for nano. vancouver used to host our chat, and the url is
http://widget.mibbit.com/?settings=dc6275c0626e358b7b397470a08ca344&serv...

I've been up there, as have others from BC-Elsewhere, so come on down!

Kar.

Or were you thinking of a chat room for just BC-Elsewhere?

I don't think anyone else will mind joining the Vancouver room. Thanks for posting this here. :)

Ah yes, the disappearing act of Elenya.

Allow me to explain myself: last year, during Nano, I was the absolute worst ML. My grandmothers passed away the day before Nano started and I sort of fell off the face of the Earth. As I'm no longer technically part of the BC:Elsewhere region (as I'm in Richmond), I thought it prudent to step down as your ML. I was informed that there was to be a replacement for me as I had a few people expressing interest in my position -- y'know, due to the events of the year before.

I'm so sorry that you amazing Wrimos are left ML-less. Would that I had known that those vying to replace me would bail, then I would have sucked it up and did the best I could from my tower in Richmond.

At any rate, keep on being amazing BC Wrimos. I miss you something terrible.

And yet...

I know those of us who remember you totally just love you to pieces still, honey.
*hugs*

Your URL broke because of length? o_O
Anyways, try this.
If you'd like, you can have a separate channel for BC: Elsewhere, but I don't think anyone will mind having you in the vancouver channel. It's possible to join others with the /join command so if you want you can be in both places at once.

This second link works well. Just took a quick chat break and was welcomed there. Thanks.
