Okay, so I have 2 evil magicians who want to overthrow the kingdom's royal house and rule by themselves. Problem is I don't have a clue on HOW they are planning to do that... I hoped that during NaNo my magicians would think of something, but well... they didn't ^^;
Maybe you've got some ideas? They primarily use spells, but one of them is quite good at making potions as well. The other has recently developed the skill to manipulate minds (of humans and animals), but it's doesn't work properly all the time. The only thing they can't do (at the moment, maybe some more restrictions will pop up while I'm writing...) is causing natural disasters (no blazing thunderstorms and stuff).
(Forgive me if I sound inexperienced... I am. This story contains more magic than I intended it to have)

NaNo '06 - '08 --> Won!
NaNo '09 --> Terugkeer van een magiër --> ???
Have you ever realised that in a world where dreams come true, the nightmares will be reality as well?

If the kingdom has say, an heir then one of the magicians could kidnap him/her and start brainwashing her/him to make them hate his/her parent(s).And since the heir to the throne has now vanished a hunt is on with the other magician leading the charge after having wormed his way into it by promising the king that he could help him. I'm not going to give you a plot but we used the same basic idea in a D&D session by kidnapping the elvish princess and slowly warping her into a woman who hated her entire kingdom.
And then we plotted, gave her back with the story she had escaped and she worked as out agent within the kingdom slowly sowing dissent that quickly built up into an all out civil war with her accusing her parents of trying to establish absolute dominance (there was a council that aided in ruling and would often go head to head with the king and queen) within the kingdom. And once they had beat the snot out of each other for long enough we came in with our lovely army and snatched it all away before torching the entire forest and all the remaining elves within it.
It was a fun campaign. I realize a D&D campaign doesn't translate all that well into a story but it all started with a simple kidnapping.

Are they any good at illusions/glamours/shapeshifting?
Kidnap the royal personage and replace them with themselves

If one's good at making potions and the other can manipulate minds, it seems fairly straightforward to magically compel someone to poison the entire royal family.
(I have a tendency to use assassinations in my stories quite a bit . . .)
