I just wanted to know if I'm the only one who has to write roughly 8000 words this weekend to catch up? What is your reason for not keeping pace?
My reason is school, and a theatre program that lets me get home from school at 7:30-8:00PM when I have to do homework. And laziness. But for all of the others who are behind, godspeed and I wish ye luck on the journey.

I've got some pretty gnarly catching up to do this weekend, too.
I just got off to a rocky start for a number of reasons, compounded by major totally stupid relationship drama.
But all that's behind me now, so I think I'm ready for a big comeback!

Ugh....yes. I'm also trying to run a business on Etsy and the nature of my business makes right now prime time. (I sell ornaments.) I have about 35 special orders to complete by Thanksgiving and the timing couldn't be worse. I'm hoping to not only catch up but also get ahead so I can take a solid weekend day and pump out the SOs.
I might be crazy, stupid or both....

Yeah I'm a few thousand words behind because I tossed out my first story on the 3rd (much too complicated sci fi and I had like no plot figured out) and had to start all over. Luckily I'm not struggling with this one nearly as much and it is flowing a lot better, hopefully I'll be able to pick up some of the slack today.

uh.. I just started last night. And by that I mean that i forced myself to write SOMETHING, which ended up being maybe 200 words. I did some more now, but that still puts me roughly 9000 words behind.
I work 50 hours a week, and recently moved to a new state, so things have been hectic. I barely have time to do anything. But I will do my best. Last year I got to 50 thousand, and would love to do it again. Circumstances were different, of course, but let's see where I'll be after this weekend...
We'll make it. We will!

Yeah I'm trying to catch up now too...it's kinda overwhelming. My dog got attacked and I spent a whole night just sitting with him and keeping his spirits up so that slowed me down a lot, but thankfully now he's on the mend. Although with the amount of homework I'm getting now who knows? Will keep ploughing on though. Good luck guys!

I almost gave up, but I have decided sticking with it. I'm too much of a perfectionist and It has severely limited my word count! I'm trying to let it go though.

That's me!! I abandoned my first start after 3 days because I loathed the characters. So I am off to a really slow start. The weekend will be interesting. I only have about 1500 words, but I like where the novel is going, so I don'' think I will have any problem finishing. Wish me luck

I am totally behind this week. I have been stuck at work for more hours then normal because my coworker had to two tues and weds off and then hurt herself just in time to see to it that I didn't get thursday off. Plus I have had a miserable cold and that makes it hard to write. We can do this though. We just need longer weekends. Hang in there you guys. Write bits at lunch and string them together later.

I have about the same amount (that's if I don't make it up tonight. Yeah. Right. Can anyone say caffeine?) I blame Facebook for this - specifically, MafiaWars. I'm addicted. (Maybe I should write about that instead?)

Oh yeah, I have some work to do. I went from being ahead to being behind when I decided that I needed to start over. The only part I saved was the Prologue, which is now Chapter One. Hopefully going this new direction will be a lot better.

I have some catching up to do. I'm not as far behind as some, but I do have 5 kids under the age of 8 so every word I manage to write feels like 20. *shudders* Why am I talking about this and not working on my novel?... Oh, crap!!! :)

I am SO glad to know I'm not the only one.
I could explain and make excuses as to why I only have around 2000 words,
but basically it's the same as everyone else.
Life gets in the way and my ass won't get off the couch and start typing.
I might be pretty busy this weekend too, so I hope it all works out. I might just wake up really early and get started.
It would be interesting to see how I write early and half awake.
Hey, you know...
----------does anyone else want to get up really early with me saturday and write?
It might be nice to be up early with some people to keep me company.
I don't really know how early, but, uhm, yeah.
It'd be cool if someone wanted to get up and chatroom with me, although I might get distracted.

I have about 8k words to do catch up as well. The reason for this is not because of laziness or anything but just simply because of school. Last year for NaNo, I wasn't in college or any school for that matter but now I am and its really hard. I've got 2012 words but hoping to get to 5k by the end of today and see where to go from there.

YES!!! I haven't got enough time to write more than about 500 words each weekday, so I'm trying to reach 15,000 by midnight and all the while my brain is trying to create the magical world my story is set in. My chapters mainly revolve around two characters and I've only vaguely decided what I want to happen to one of them...the other one is now in a workhouse because I put him there....and then in about 5000 words time my FMC is going to find a dragon egg...Who will be able to talk but is nameless...and I only kinda what kind of dragon it is...problem is I can't figure out how he/she got there (New Forest, England) from Roscilly bay in Wales....

Well, the reason I'm behind was because of the following.
1) After Halloween I was tired and that was because I spent the rest of the afternoon on Halloween on the way through night to get a picture done for a contest and it tired me out. (And what sucked about this was that it wasn't due in two weeks. I thought the contest lasted until Halloween. I could have been preparing my story for this month.)
2) I had trouble writing my original story.
3) I was catching up on the shows I miss last week due to the picture I was working on the last week of October.
Those are my reasons.

I don't even have a plot! I basically know what I'm doing, but I'm basically picking an emotion giving it to the character and writing 1000 words of it. I know the end of my story, I know a part that's gonna happen, and I know the beginning, so a lot of it is up to chance. Lets see where this takes me!

I'm behind because I'm working on TWO novels this month--my senior seminar project for college, and Nano. Plus all my other classes. AAAAHHHHH!!!!!!!!! Going to try to catch up this weekend, but it's up in the air at this point. *sigh* I keep wishing that Nano didn't fall in the academically HELL month of November!

I managed to get a good chunk done today (2,355, which brought me up to 6,592). I'm still waaaaay behind, but I'm better than I was yesterday. I'm going to try to write some more tonight too but I probably won't be able to this weekend as I'm going to be out for most of Saturday and probably Sunday evening too. But I'm very proud of myself right now because the last time I participated I only managed 7,005 words in the whole month and I'm nearly there already! ;)

Plus, my dog ate my power adapter so I have to write on my boyfriend's computer instead. It just feels really uncomfortable.

Hey buddy,
Add me to your list. Will be belting it out this weekend too.
Good luck. I hope to start tonight.
The reason, laziness i guess. Monday turned to Tuesday turned to Friday. I have been hoping to wake up ready to dive in. As I see the first week coming to a close I realize I am going to have to buckle down now and bite the bullet so to speak.

The flu knocked me out on day 1, haven't written anything since. I'm hoping to crank out 5,000 words a day this weekend! I did take the time to work on my outline though, so I have a better idea of where I'm going now. That should help.

Yes!!! I'm terribly behind on word count but determined not to give up. It's good to hear others are fighting through as well. My reasons -- things that aren't going to change (work & little kids & life). So I've got to power through. Good luck to you!
