In addition to the Top Ten list I post every day, I'm also going to post a daily "Rising Star." This is the person that climbed the most in the rankings from one day to the next. If there's a tie, I pick the person closer to the top.

First time doing this, we'll see how it goes!

Rising Stars
From 11/23 to 11/24:
shadow-hostage. Up 4, to Rank 2!
pikkukani. Up 4, to Rank 14!
saratune. Up 3, to Rank 5!
annaphase. Up 3, to Rank 6!
aaobuttons. Up 3, to Rank 12!
nitzan. Up 3, to Rank 16!
Alexjboyer. Up 3, to Rank 20!
manicmamawrites. Up 3, to Rank 23!
Keith_Martin. Up 2, to WINNER!
tedboone. Up 2, to Rank 1!

11/7:
Changed it a bit, to include the Top Ten Rising Stars.

A bit of movement all over the chart today. Things are shaking up a bit!

Is this based in any way on number of words written in a day, as well? Not that I care that much, but I did go from 20 to 17 (which in itself puts me on a list already, so I don't mind not being here), but I've been consistently writing only about 2k words a day.

Just curious!

Grats to everyone who jumped in the ranks. Keep up the great work!

I just look at your ranking yesterday vs. your ranking today (and your ranking yesterday may be different than my early morning post. I use the most current data I can).

Hmm, and now I realize that my logic doesn't _quite_ work based on how NaNo reports its statistics...

I may have to try this again.

Fixed. I have to look at movement from two days back to one day back for this to work. LOTS more dynamic list that way.

Glad you got it figured out. It's way beyond my powers of comprehension and technical know-how! Another great motivating idea.

Thanks, Ted! You are brilliant!

Now quit playing around and go work on your novel.

I have a cunning plan to drop like a stone through the rankings so that I can then rise again, phoenix-like, but with a smaller beak and less ash.

I like this :). Especially since I was on the first list. I had a glitch at the beginning because I was writing and forgot to record my word count. Not going to do that again. And let's see what happens this weekend - I've taken two days to focus on my writing!

I write 20,009 words in 4 days, rise to rank #6, and don't get on the top 10 list? Fooey to you and your top-ten ranking algorithm!

It seems the algorithm biases itself towards those who have low initial word counts and are thus competing against those who have dropped out.

The plan has failed miserably! I keep wanting to know what's going to happen next in my novel and thus keep writing!

Well, I do maintain another list of Lawrence NaNoers. Maybe you need to aspire to greater things?

Just take a deep inhalation and exhalation, or you might succumb to expiration! Then we'd have to resort to exhumation and necromantic reanimation so you can continue the consummation of your nanowrimofication.

P.S. Fornication! I think I just burned up all my creativeness for the day on a stupid forum post...

How do I look to see if I went up in ranking? I worked so hard on Wednesday and got some good writing done despite my laptop being dead most of the day LOL

I will not let it get me down. A title finally found me and brought a plot with it! Woohoo!

You moved up from 126 to 71. VERY impressive! Keep it up!

P.S. Today's Rising Star Results are weird, because I'm filtering on Lawrence Only first. So the rankings are all wonky.

Seriously?? Wow! I didn't think it would be that much. Thank you so much!

Now to put my graphs aside and keep writing. I wish I could make the write-in's but I am usually working :o( I love reading about them though. They help me keep going!

Thank you again!

woot! So the secret to making the list is to leave off writing for two days to work all day and spend hours at rehearsal only to make it up by spending every spare moment for the next two days obsessively writing. This is so much FUN! But I suppose the secret to finishing is actually writing every day...more green tea and peanut butter M&Ms!! Wish I could make the write-ins and cheer you all on -- way to go fellow Wrimos!!
