I wanted to check in with everyone and see how you're doing. Are you where you thought you'd be? Ahead? Behind? Feeling on top of the world or are you starting to lose hope? (Has anyone pulled a Sean yet?)

As for me, I'm ahead of my own personal schedule- usually I manage to get the bare minimum daily word count done and then call it quits for the day, but not so far! I think it helps that my characters are making their actions up as they go along, just like I'm making up the plot. We've both got a end-goal, and we're just navigating our way there.

Hope everybody's on track! See you later!

Well...I have to say this year is rolling...who knows I may be half way on the end of the weekend, right now I am at 12,938 words! With my daily mini-write ins with Angelis at work (lunch hour) and the meet ups it is coming out! I will cross the barrier into 13,000 words tonight, exactly where I will be is unknown. The goal is 14, 000. We will see!

The Sunday kick-off gave me a good head start and I have been keeping the pace. I'm pretty slow when I write so 1,666 words (and sometimes a hair more) is an accomplishment. Getting out of the house and away from distraction has helped so much. My plan is to write 1,600 ~ 2,000 a day and maybe take some time off from work on Mondays for some extended sessions to pull ahead for Thanksgiving off.

I had this story pretty much planned out but it is taking some interesting turns. I'm not a fan of fantasy novels but suddenly there is a dragon-slaying sub-plot. Of course to save my literary-fiction pretentiousness the dragon is a metaphor for time & bondage or something like that.

I felt on Thursday that I was pushing myself too hard and took a little time to let the creative well refill and to ponder my outline.

The goal with the outline is to make a list of the things I want to talk about in nuggets that are about 2000 words long.

Right now I'm typing way too much about way too little. At this pace, the first quarter of the novel - part one of four parts - will be 100,000 words long.

It will all fit somewhere in the final version, but it leaves me fumbling sometimes for the next thing to write about and feeling confused about what I am doing.

It's great help to know before I go to bed what I'm going to get up and write about the next morning so that I can refreshed and then completely and happily ignore it and go on an interesting tangent in the morning. That seems to be what stimulates my creativity - to be highly organized so that I can then completely reject conformity to plan and go on my own little word revolution.

Have to admit that I'm running behind. Working from home should make it easier to stay caught up, but there is something about writing on the train that seems to set me free.... sigh.... Gotta get caught up this weekend though... somehow....

I'm running ahead of schedule and so very happy about it. Turns out my novel is less about baseball and more about the MC relationship with her father. Go figure. :)

I finished the day just over 16k. I'm hoping I can get to 20k by Sunday night but the weekends are rough for me.

Happy Writing.

I'm flowing when I have the energy to write. Work has been giving me the I've dealt with stupid headaches all week. I'm at 13,222 words and hoping to hit close to 20,000 before the weekend is through. I will do the happy dance of joy if I hit 25,000 words muahahahahaa we shall see :)

I have about 1100 more words to go to stay on track. An exciting character has introduced himself and another one has proven himself to be MIA thus far. He's plotting his dramatic entrance. The girls are getting along as I, and the sinister villain, wish, and the rest of my cast is busy setting the stage for their portions of the drama. It's still exciting, thank God!

Not doing too badly for myself at this point in time. I'm about a day and a half ahead of schedule, and I've got at least another 15,000 words that are somewhat planned out, as well as some semblance of an ending. I've been writing longhand most of the time, then transcribing it on the computer.

I prefer writing longhand first, because it makes me think out the implications of what I'm writing both when I'm first writing it down, then when I'm typing it up. The only problem is that it's slower and much more time consuming than just typing it in the first place. I just feel I'm not getting the same mileage when I type it up. It's more free flowing, and scene ideas that could easily make it to 3000 words if I had written longhand would be about 1800 if I just typed it in the first place, because I didn't think the scene through as much as I could have.

At any rate, I hope everyone's doing well for themselves. Good luck!

Progress? Well as for as NaNo is concerned, just look to the left and not the horribly dreaded number there. Especially for 6 days in... or is it 7 now?

Off the NaNo concern and word counts? I have a very solid plan now, characters, and even a possible ending. I do have a title that I've been wanting to use for ages. Also I've spent every day this month writing a thousand words or so (mostly articles or things that aren't involved with my novel) or designing things. So my real goal of the month was to be very creative every day.

Saying all that I'm hoping to be caught up on the word count by Tuesday or Wednesday.

Behind. Not worried. Looks like I'm going to be doing a lot of weekend catch up, right now. The thumbs cannot take the pace of Pre writing. :(. I am only about 3700 words behind. :) Or, as I would like to think about it -- I have over 6000 written.

Is there such a thing as thumb yoga? You can do little poses against the table or floor with your hands and digits. I wonder what a yoga teacher would recommend!

Yes, I did a Sean, but it's worked out pretty well. My new novel is up to 12,000 words as of last night. I hope to get in 2,000 by this evening when I'm off to the Leonard Cohen concert at the Fox. More inspiration!

I'm going to try to hit 25,000 words by the end of Sunday. That shouldn't be too hard since I'll be traveling and in a hotel room in Boston. I'm shooting for 5,000 on Saturday and 7,500 on Sunday. Can I do it? If not, I have Monday to get up to snuff (as I've

If I achieve that, I'm going to try to get 50,000 by the 15th! YAAAAHHHHH!!!!

Angelis is right, the words flew, due to the stupid headaches from work this week. I have never had a novel go like this. I will probably be in a word war with Sean this weekend as usual. We will see....

I love my story so far, but I haven't kept up on my word count (I'm a day behind). Then again, I've worked every day this week, 12-14 hours each day, and will do the same next week. Still, I hope to throw down 5,000+ words today (gasp!). Wish me luck, I guess?

If you're only one day behind and you've been working 12-14 hour days all week...you don't need luck. You've been doing great. Still - good luck!
