For those of you who may have not been there, in the plot workshop we had a lot of fun talking about what we would and would not be including in our stories. The ideas ranged from the serious to the bizarre. By the end of the night, we had made an unofficial pact to find some way of including a penguin in our stories.

Well, I think I have finally found a way to include one in my story and hope to write the scene including my little friend this weekend. (He is going to be in a book my heroine picks up in a moment of panic in order to distract from the fact that she was snooping around my hero's house. Things get complicated though when he asks what she is reading about...should be fun.) I was wondering if anyone else has written and/or planned for their penguin yet.

For anyone willing to share, I'd love to hear the details. I hope you are all still plugging away. Happy writing!

The penguins are SO important! I've decided to name a character Penguin, My novel's so very Southern that it seemed the only logical way. Anyone else?

Aw, I wish I could have come to the plot workshop. It sounds like I missed some fun stuff. I'll think about including a penguin anyhow.
If I'm not working Monday night I'm pretty sure I'll come to the write in.

I am close to adding a penguin to my story. It may take some working in, but it will be a penguin people won't easily forget.

The write-ins aren't good times for me because I don't live in Conway city limits, but I'm glad you're all willing to share some tidbits that come out of the meetings.

Penguins.

I can definitely think of some way to include penguins in my story. The past two chapters of my NaNoWriMo have been kind of serious. Penguins can bring some humor back to my project.

Thanks for the tip!

For any of those interested I posted an excerpt that includes my penguins. The scene did not turn out as I originally envisioned but I believe I like this version quite a bit better. It certainly needs some work but all in all I am pleasantly pleased by how it turned out.

Who knew including penguins would prove such an ingenious idea?
