I like having these daily threads.
Today I woke up late, shopped and umpired basketball.
I've squeezed an hour and a bit of writing between getting hom, and now getting suited up to go to a Gold Medal dancey performance.
Got almost 2000 words out of me. So, slow day but the daily word count was hit.
My youngest crew remember just watched the bad guy blow her dad's chest apart. She has bits of his rib cage stuck in her hair. She doesnt know this yet as she is running like blazes to get away, dragging her mother with her.
I kind of feel mean for doing it to her, but DAMN did the book jsut suddenly go up a gear! Its now frantic, and... wow.. cool.

Heh. Rib cage stuck in hair. Special shampoo? :P
Today I got to work at 8:30 and got stuck there until 1pm whereupon I flumped into my car and found that I couldn't breathe (drawbacks of buying a black car suddenly getting to me).
I then did my darndest to churn out my daily goal of 2000 words. Having stared at a screen all morning, my eyes were burning, so I tried to up the ante by my usual word-eating technique (that is, characters having huge arguments involving lots of "NO NO NO" and "ARGH!") Finally hit 14000 words.
Then I ate ice cream and fell asleep and woke up in a stuffy room with a) a numb hand, b) a splitting headache and c) a burning throat.
I am actually pleased with what I wrote today, despite all the arguments. I managed to introduce a fourth weave of the plotline which involves stalking (my favourite hobby). Woohoo!

3,046 words for today getting me past the 19k mark. Quite happy with it. Still time to add more.
I slept in and woke up at like 11 and managed to get a heap of words down in a few word wars. I heart weekends.
Let's see if Scarlett can get more out of me tomorrow. I dare her!

I'm going to liken my book to a car. I'm currently examining the transmission, tweaking the gear ratios and checking the integrity of the drivetrain and differential so that when I drop the clutch and floor it, I will streak away leaving a cloud of smoke and the stench of burnt rubber. As opposed to having the engine block jump its mountings and land on the road in a smoking heap.
It's taking a little longer than I imagined it would but if I don't get the cogs right, the power won't go to the wheels!

I've gradually become more and more sick of looking at my computer screen without any idea of what I'm doing or where I'm going with this plot. I had a bit of a walk to try and figger out what the hell it's supposed to do and had a minor revelation, so that might tide me over for a day or two. I hope the story improves. :(

I worked all morning, came home and wrote an essay plan and only just now gotten time to write. I got more than a day ahead of schedule yesterday so I can afford not to write much today, but I'll probably try to get something down even though I know I'll be able to get heaps more writing done at the write-in tomorrow. What I really want to do now is some more planning. I've never planned a novel really thoroughly before, but this one's really asking for it.

I've only managed 800 so far today so still have quite a bit to do to catch up this weekend. MrBen the words seem to be flowing for you, try a few challenges and see how you go.

YAY! I have reached 20,000 words. I'll say it again YAY! so excited to have reached this milestone, and ten minutes before I have to go out too. Is it bad that I am considering ditching my real life interactions with actual people to say in and write?
I think I will try and go to the write in tomorrow although I will be late. I am just having so mush fun with all this, which surprises me because any time I have tried to write before it has been a process of torture.

Worked for eight hours but wrote, mostly on the train, a bit over 3K in general. Will write another six and a half tomorrow to bring me up to 40.
Things are really starting to heat up in my book. A besieging army just broke down a section of the wall.

Woke up at about 10AM, and started getting ready for the write-in. After much cleaning and stuff, people started getting here! One of my friends got here at around 11:30, and as soon as people started getting here at 1, I started freaking out, running around going "Oh my God! People! What do I do, what do I do?!"
It was a great day, though. I only got about 3k done during the write-in, but have powered through this evening and just broke 60k. Might aim for 65k before midnight, but I'll let everyone know how I go.

I seem to be writing the same ten or so words, over and over. It's also very hard to write about your family's background when all you have is vague, contradicting stories.
I'm boring myself to death. I'll feel sorry for anyone who attempts to read this novel.
I went to my mum's today and L went to Respite for four hours and as usual she had a ball. She also locked herself in the toilets and they had to open the door with a knife. The carers looked all concerned and a bit nervous telling me about it. (Like it was some big horrible announcement). I just laughed and they said "oh..she's done this before". Well, yes..but that would be one of her milder misadventures.
Then I came back and watched "Pushing Daisies". Now I'm writing more stupid writing.
Note to self: get better attitude.

Confession time.. I indulged in a bit of editing today. My word count did suffer for it, but it also made me feel a bit better about what I'm writing, so I think that longer term it will be for the best. I had a bit of a low point today about my horrible novel writing skills.
I still got 2,500 words written so no real problem :)

Well, I managed to get nearly 5K words today (I was aiming at 4K). This puts me on track to hit 25K tomorrow if I manage another 4K at the write in. Here's hoping.
Challenge wise, I worked in a snerk and death by can opener. Working on the gay pride parade next, I think...
In other news I also made banana cake.

Cracked 14k tonight which makes me very happy. I've just been writing a scene of drinking beer on a hot night in Koh Sahn Rd Bangkok and on a night like this I could really use a Tiger beer myself. However I foolishly encouraged hubby to go away for a golf weekend so it's just me and my toddler, that means alcohol free when on mummy duty.

I pulled in with 8,661 for the day, bringing me to 63,676. To get to my goal (overtaking delyra by tomorrow night), I need about 10k tomorrow. I've got atleast that much outlined, so I should be right until Monday!

I think I put today in the 'forget about it pile' and plan to do the same tomorrow. The plan had been to do a chapter of psych revision, plan D&D and then do NaNo. Until family decided to get in the way, which was fine since I love my family, until they managed to upset me and throw me totally off any sort of groove I could get. So thank all things that I managed to get extra words yesterday and just had to drag myself over the line for word count today. That said, I am seriously thinking of cutting my goal back to the 25k I said I would try at the start of the month, I don't know if I can do it otherwise...
Congrats to all you guys keeping going, you're doing fantastically and are an inspiration and then some! Keep it up! You can do it!

I accidentally killed both my protagonists today.
Wasn't a huge problem, as I wrote a couple of thousand words just on them wandering around limbo.
The trick is going to be getting them back to the land of the living.

Didn't make the 30,000 i was aiming for... I've still got til tonight to do it as i wanted to hit that shiny number before the end of the weekend. I managed 2.600 at the writein which wasn't so bad, I guess, as i had to pop out for an hour to taxi my son. I had some quiet time at work last night for a change and managed to belt out another 1,600... but that'll be added to my day 8 total. I'm hoping for some time this evening when I get up so i can hit that 30k.
Still having fun but this chapter has been a bit of a struggle as despite my synopsis I hadn't decided what order and with whom I was going to do stuff in. This one will definately need a huge overhaul in December but I dare not look at it just yet.

I did actually write 1100 yesterday but didn't get to update as had to go to blasted party!!! Damn! Damn! Actually really nice to send child to grandparents and go out for sedate adult entertainment. Am furiously trying to make up yesterday's word count this morning before child gets back but am introducing the villains at a welcome reception and I am afraid it is slow going.
