I'm borrowing this challenge from synthetic_jesso, another ML.
We're heading into the treachorous territory of WEEK 2. So now is the time to get prepared. It's time for Double Your Daily Word Count Day.
What is "Double Your Daily Word Count Day", you ask? It's a new regional holiday that Jess just invented. It's a day where you write at least double your average daily word count, and thus give yourself a hefty boost at the start of week two.
It works like this: Whatever your end-of-day word count is tonight (Saturday night), you divide that number by 7. The result is your average daily word count, and your goal on Sunday is to write twice that many words. If your average is less than 1,667, then you are behind. You need to write double-double the daily goal, meaning 6668 words. :-)
Use this thread to post your magic number, the number of words you'll be writing tomorrow. Then, when you finish writing those words, post again to let everyone know that you are victorious.
There are no prizes for winning this challenge other than a virtual high-five, because this is a shoe-string operation after all. But you will have bragging rights, and you will get that warm fuzzy "Yeah I totally won that challenge" feeling.
And if you don't get that feeling, then just keep writing until you triple your daily word count. Or quadruple it. Or catch up to the word count. Or get to 50,000 words! or whatever!
ENJOY THE CHALLENGE!

I forgot to say, if you're still at zero word count, your challenge is to write the daily word goal double double. That's 6,668 words, I think.

I'm still behind on my word count.. but I'm slowly catching up! I'm hoping that within the next 2-3 days I'll be caught up!

Good job, Sea Phoenix.
My challenge goal is 4,000 words. I'm at 1900 right now. So back to writing. If I meet this challenge I'll be ahead. Which will be important heading into week 2, when I have in the past found myself stalled in the doldrums.

*happy chicken dance* I am caught up!!! I pushed out about 3,500 words tonight and am now right on schedule with the nanowrimo daily goals. So excited! I'm going to keep trying to write above the minimum though, just to edge my way ahead of schedule.
Have I mentioned how excited I am??? Wooo - possibly first time ever I seem to be following through on a writing project not school-related!

Congrats! Sea Phoenix.
You seem to be a night owl, too! I am by nature, but work and a teen daughter in school effects my natural tendencies.

LOL - Yeah, when left to my own devices, I tend to naturally gravitate towards a night shift. I'm jobless at the moment, which only makes this tendency even easier to indulge in - and all my college classes are at night, as well (7:30pm - 10:30pm).
My husband also works night shifts (7pm -7am), so that helps as well - although he's stateside right now. (Which helps my writing lol - now I don't have to worry about if I'm ignoring him to write!!)
I imagine that if I had a job and/or a child, that would be probably push me more towards a forced day shift schedule. :-)

Yay - I told myself that just because I was caught up to schedule, i'd still write more than the minimum needed to stay on schedule... although I'm still behind a lot of you guys on word count - I'm plodding along ahead of schedule for once, so yay! I did another 2,800 words tonight, which puts me just a bit under tomorrow's word count goal. I'm going to keep trying to write between 2-3k words a day :-) I figure, this way, if for some reason I can't write on a given night, I'll make it so I at least won't get discouraged and worry about missing the over all word count goals.
I can't wait till I hit the 25k mark!! :-)
