Those of you who have me on FB should know already but my kitchen caught fire. Thus interrupting this quiet little writer's/stocker's life with the sudden explosion of excitement and a chance to be a hero (reluctantly, but hey it happens) and a chance to realize what I'm thankful for.

If anything else exciting happens to you during the NaNoWriMo put it here! Tell your real life story, or at least a brief synopsis of it.

Wow! From your post, it sounds like no one was hurt, which we are all grateful for. Know all of us wrimos are sending you good thoughts and vibes. Get well soon, kitchen.

My exciting thing is really not so exciting. I thought I had the swine flu, but it turns out I had some crazy bacterial infection (white blood cell count 21,000, eek!). Last night, the wonderful nurses at the urgent care clinic gave me some shots so my infection would go down and my throat wouldn't swell shut. And then about two minutes later, I passed out. Woo! My first fainting spell! Awesome.

Anyway, now that I feel so much better (thank you again, Urgent Care Nurses!), I need to start catching up for the past three days spent writing nothing for Nano. My goal today is to write more words than my white blood cell count.

So maybe I should get on that...

Nope, so far the most exciting thing was literally falling asleep on top of my keyboard last night from exhaustion. Prying my laptop off my face was fun this morning.

Yikes! I hope everything's okay, as fires definitely aren't fun.

Nope, life is just the usual around these parts. The most exciting thing that happened this week was talking to people at art galleries. I'll need to talk to them again in more detail when/if I edit my 2006 novel, though. That was my favorite NaNo novel, but this one is slowly but surely taking over the title of favorite.

On Day Two of Nano, I am puttering around my house (instead of writing) and decide to see what new candlesticks would look like on the mantel. I was rearranging some greenery there because it was falling; the greenery moved the candlestick, the candlestick wobbled the pillar candle I had just placed on top, and the candle toppled hitting me on the cheekbone. I picked up the candle, said something very intelligent like, "THAT was NOT funny!" and ran to the mirror and watched in horror as a huge grape knot began to form like someone was pumping it full of air. Well, that's just swell.

It doesn't hurt as much as it looks like I have been worked over by a boxer (person not dog). I had a garage sale over the weekend so, that convinced me to stay at home (and write) because I have been very self conscious of the looks I've been getting (her husband must beat her looks) and those that are curious enough to ask look at me like they don't quite believe me when I tell them what happened.

And my 18 year old daughter says, "Oddly enough Mother, your eye is the same color as the candle."

I don't know if it is considered exciting, but according to various websites, Stephen King has a new novel coming out today. This may or may not interfere with my "word count."

Week Two come to bite me today, in the form of taking my car to the shop and worrying (read: not writing) until they finally called me. New steering column & wheel (they don't come separate nor do they sell the ONE broken part in the column) and a new engine mount, which had nothing to do with my steering problems but is the reason my car vibrates so badly. $1200 that I don't exactly have and puts me very solidly in this basement until at least the end of the holiday season. And I only wrote 600 words today.

Oh November, why must you do this to me?

I got the flu and passed out for three days. Then I went to a concert, passed out for two more. So I have 5 days of writing to catch up on.

So far I've been to three concerts when I should have been planning/writing.

September 28, The Academy Is (who didn't show up), Mayday Parade, Set Your Goals, Secret Handshake, You Me At Six
Slept for a day after that.

November 1st, The Used, The Almost, Drive A
Slept for a day and a half

November 8th, Boys Like Girls, Cobra Starship, The Maine, A Rocket to the Moon, VersaEmerge
Slept for a good part of two day. I think I infested everyone in that room with the flu from Hell.

Damn my social life

My car decided to go ballistic tonight. At least it gave me a subject for my pep talk.

My grandmother had to go to the doctor, which led to having to have surgery, which led to a MRSA infection, which has led to over a week of hospitilzation.

I just found out a family member is the subject of a federal investigation (ha!ha! It is SO richly deserved).

I'm falling hard for the boy next door and just had the best date I can ever remember.

This month has been crazy. But I'm grateful for my car.

As we saw in IKEA I can get a bit intense during write-ins. Ahem. So since I don't want to scare him away...
