ive managed to sort out my work into twenty two chapters i have a few more to add and will be around thirty chapters is this enough and how long should a chapter be as some of them are quite short but they dont fit into other chapters so need their own.
also im thinking of giving each chapter a title of their own but not sure.
i would be interested to know how others are sorting their work

I would recommend that this isn't the point to worry about the number or names of chapters. That is an editing detail.
Just write the story, if it feels like a good break stop. But what matters is just to keep working.
A plan is a good starting point, but it is important not to get bogged down in details that don't add more words.

Alan,
Don't be giving up on yourself in the first week. The story matters, you need to get it out and let it flow.
Yes you can make it, I am sure of it.
Never give up on yourself.
Just keep writing.

Thank you for the advice, but I'm not giving up on myself!
I'll write as far into it as i can in November, i just don't think that i have enough time to finish, but i shall still try! :P
My problem is that sometimes the writing flows out, but sometimes i dont know what to write :(
And whenever I get inspiration i end up having to go somewhere :(
That said, i love where my story is going. Its the most personal thing i've ever wrote, as a result of fusing personal experience with the fantasy genre I have a romantically frustrated dragon :D Not to be vain, but look me in the eye and tell me thats not awesome :P Also, thanks to behindthename.com my characters names have real meanings, e.g. the dragoms name is Indra because thats like a hindu rain god or something, and i thought that would be a good enigma :P
----------Well, i have rambled too much as usual so imma stop here :P

Hello all,
I have written so far 32 chapters just to break up my writing for easier editing in December. I have never gone back to read or to double check anything. If I did I’d get distracted by something I’m sure and would end up wasting time.
If I’m unsure about a name or planet or detail that I’ve been writing about I insert a few +++ plus signs so when edidting I can find items to be corrected quicker. If I misspell a word I don’t delte delete it LOL I leave it in… changes to grammar and spelling etc this all can wait and be done in December.
I also have various files with information about characters that can be easily opened if a new piece of inspiration comes to mind.
This style of writing has proved a superb success for me this year and am pleased to say that tonight …or is it this morning… I have reached my 50,000 word goal and so pleased with myself.
So come on keep writing, typing or communicating into your recorders it all ads up to your word count.
I have still lots to do with this novel of mine and think it could easily double by the end of November.
I’m so tired and off to bed to get some sleep.

My chapters are pretty random lengths really.
I usually try to end them on a cliffhanger moment, like if someone's about to have something really horrible happen to them, I break off before it happens and start a new chapter :)
Other than that, I just occasionally decide to put in a chapter break if I get the feeling the current one is getting too long. I'll probably go back and tidy up the layout a bit when I'm editing this mess next month.
The way I usually look at chapter breaks is imagining the story is a TV series set in half-hour or so episodes. Try to end each episode at a point where something is happening that'll make the viewers want to tune in to the next one to find out what happens next :)
----------Although for NaNo, it doesn't matter where they are really. Can just write the whole thing in one huge lump if you prefer, then go back and add chapter breaks during editing when you're done. :)
I don't think they have to be any particular length though, or even all the same length.
